Pitching matchups for the next three days.

    Burnett vs Beckett
    Wang vs Wakefield
    Sabathia vs Penny

Should be interesting. They will be seeing Sabathia for the first time this season.

i see no reason why we cant take 2 of 3. get a good start out of aj tonight, and cc's a solid bet. wang you never know, and wakefields off to a good start. but then again, we've been able to hit him, so we'll see

We are going to need an outfielder. Nady, Damon, and Matsui are all free agents. If Holliday keeps struggle we may sign him if his price drops enough. Other then that there really isn't any big name FA's out there. That's why the Yankees signed Tex last year. The next couple of years there isn't much in terms of hitters.

I also like Mark Derosa. He is a great utility guy. Can play all over and can hit decently.

The Rays are going to be at a point with Crawford next season where they will have to decide if they are still a small-market team or not. I'm not so sure that they shell out the dollars to keep Carl in Tampa.

The OF will already have plenty of guys...especially if you look at moving Jeter there. Him, Swish, Cabrerra and Gardner...and most likely Austin Jackson will be up as a full-timer next season.

Now...ideally...it would be nice to see if NY could move Swish and one of the young CF for a guy to play RF with a little more pop. Heck...i know his D is AWFUL...but Abreu's bat would be a nice addition back in that spot. A lot is also going to depend on how Nady plays after he returns. If he proves that he can be a everyday player with a little of everything...i wouldn't be surprised at all to see him back.

Jeter in LF, Jackson in CF, Nady in RF and Melky as a 4th OF would be just fine with me. I really like it from a financial stand-point as well

I think he is going to have to. His range at SS is, while not as bad as the talking heads claim, still pretty bad....and he's only getting older.

That added dynamic is exactly what I'm talking about though. The Yanks don't have anyone in the regular line-up that scares you on the bases.

While Crawford may be a long-shot...I think Figgins is a great fit...and can be had cheaply in the off-season without having to trade anyone away to get. The other thing you have to keep in mind is the positional flexibility that Figgins would give NY.

Holliday is the wild-card....but I simply don't see Cashman shelling out another HUGE contract when there are other guys that can put up similar stats for far less money.

Rays are either going to pick up his option and work towards resigning him or they are going to trade him. If they do trade him you have to believe it won't be to the Yankees. So we can all but rule him out next season. Maybe down the line if he's traded and doesn't sign a long term deal with the new team.

We don't have plenty of guys for our outfield. I'm not sold on Garnder yet. Melky is a solid guy who will be there. Swish is way too streaky. He is better off the bench or a spot starter.

Nady on the other hand probably won't be around. The Yankees were looking to possibly trade him at the beginning of the year because he is a coming FA and Boris is his agent. Not only that he may still need another TJ surgery. That will put him out the rest of the year.

I really like Jackson but he hasn't proved anything yet. I would feel uncomfortable going into the season with Swisher, Melky, and Gardner as our outfielders. We are going to sign one in FA. Whether it's someone like Holliday or a fill in player for a year or two.

No he isn't moving anywhere. Maybe when he signs a new contract he will move. Until then he is our SS.

They've been talking about this since LAST offseason. I doubt he will be at SS for too much longer. I hate to think of it myself.

I don't think it will be next season. I think next year after the season when he signs a new deal part of that will be he has to move to the outfield. I see him finishing out this contract as a SS.

Fair enough...but he seriously can't sign another contract to still be playing short...

Nor will he. I can't see the Yankees signing him to another contract with the attempt to keep him at short. Part of that deal will be he has to move to the outfield. My question is what kind of deal does he get? How many years will it be and what will the $ be?

We aren't talking about moving Jeter to the OF this year.

Next year Damon, Nady and Matsui are all probably gone.

That leaves room in the outfield. Even though I believe he'll play shortstop next year there is room for him in the outfield if they want to move him there.

I'll tell you what Jeter won't be playing SS in a few years let along when he retires.

In 2-3 years Jeter will be 38. not many SS at the age besides the never ending Omar Vizquel.

He will likely play LF within 2-3 years.

lmao, he might finish his career with the Yanks, but he wont retire a shortstop.

Jeter is a solid shortstop. People are definitely making too big a deal of his range. He has about average range and zone rating in the MLB currently, about half the league is better and half the league is worse. Last year he was in the top 5 for fielding percentage and this year he is #2 thus far. I think he has 2+ years left at short.

No one here probably knows. He was in AA I think when he was traded. I don't think any of us really saw him play/knew anything much about him. Just that was a high round draft pick with a ton of talent. However towards the end they were worried he wouldn't like up to expectations so they traded him.
