Hey guys,
I made some bars a while back from a recipe on the protein bars thread. The real difficulty I had with that thread is that without images, you rarely knew what you were making.
I've modded the recipe myself, and I'm really liking how these turned out.
2.5 cups oats
1/2 cup lindseed
1/2 cup bran
6 scoops chocolate whey
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup smooth light peanut butter
Followed the base recipe of boiling water and honey, then adding peanut butter until dissolved. Mix in a bowl with everything else.
I used 25 minutes in the oven to get them solid.
The end result is very close to an Uncle Toby's museli bar in terms of texture. Definitely able to be put in a bag and taken to work, and eaten without a fork.
Pictures don't do it justice

Yeah i was gonna say, definitely eat them with a fork. They look a bit too gooey to hold using your hands like a normal bar.
Looks good. Well done. I wanna do that **** one day but i don't wanna **** up the recipe and then ruin all my whey powder and ingredients lol I can cook a mean steak but my cooking skills don't go much further than that.advertising/self-promotion not permitted

Yeah they tasting real good.
It's kinda weird, you can taste the "natural" in them. I eat a commercial bar now and I'm all like "oh, so that's the difference the processing makes".
Thanks idealist, I'll try that.
The idea here being, I'm making a batch of six, that's at least one for every working day. That means a morning feed that doesn't involve hitting a cafe up like I usually do. I recon a few weeks of this will serve me damn well.

I been trying to figure out macros for these for hours.
The difficulties I've had is:
* I couldn't find whey for some reason
* There are no cup measurements for products like peanut butter
* This is the first time I've used fitday and I'm probably not doing it right
So after working out how much tablespoons of peanut butter this equates to, I got the following out of fitday, which is just missing the whey:
Adding in 28g per scoop of protein, I get, in total:
65g fat
366g carbs
216g protein
I break this across six bars, you have have other preferences. More carbs than I'd like, but I made these earlier with less honey and they came out terrible.
So here is the new recipe I followed, based on these experiences:
In a mixing bowl:
2c oats
.5cup lindseed
.5c bran
spoon baking soda
6 scoops chocolate whey
In a saucepan on the stove:
3/4c honey
1/2c peanut butter
1c water
Once it's melted, stir all together.
Preheated oven properly this time, 180C, 20 minutes.
They are cooking now. Pics to come.
