Yeah, I definitely feel you, on the whole, suffer now and live like a champion deal. For years I never won anything nor did I ever feel really successful cause I knew I had amazingly major potential but never achieved where I wanted to be. It felt like I would never win anything and it was taking forever, but now it's turned around tremendously and now I'm way more successful than I could ever dream, have everything I want, and have a far better life than everyone I wanted to be better than. The journey also teaches you humility because you knew what you had to go through to get there and the pain that accompanied it, so you don't even want to go rub it in all of the haters' faces that stepped on you in life. You just help people be better versions of themselves. Which is the ultimate success for me.

Thank you for your response! I guess GOAT Mohammed Ali meant he TRAINED so ferociously and tirelessly that it became all-consuming. That is (partly) how legends become legends. But the actual fighting? He had to have loved getting into that ring, knowing all the risks, and just demonstrating his gifts and innate spirit. That quote from Mohammed Ali had me extremely interested and curious after I had listened to a documentary on Sugar Ray Robinson (to acquire details I hadn't known previously). And this was because my uncle had fought Sugar Ray.

I could have sworn, in one of Robinson's documentaries, that Ali claimed he "hated fighting." I don't believe he was referring to the training aspect. He was talking about the actual fighting- his talent, which was his career, and made him who he was. The same with Robinson, now that I think of it. I believe Robinson also stated during an interview (in a doc) that he didn't like fighting...didn't LIKE fighting! That blows my mind. These men made extraordinary careers out of something they claimed they 'didn't like.' I hope I'm not misinterpreting their words... I know it's hard to stay committed to something you don't have a genuine passion for!! When someone says they "don't like" something, I infer that to mean they don't have a passion for it! I was just so struck by these statements from the GOAT boxers- never expected to hear that statement from them.

How did you turn things around for yourself? That shows incredible resolve, discipline and self-awareness!! Why did you feel like you could "never win anything" when you have so much potential? I read your post over and over again, and correct me if I'm wrong, but to me it sounds like you had some very rocky roads and obstacles you felt you had to overcome to achieve what you wanted. And I'm genuinely happy that you did turn things around!! Life is easy for no one, no matter how much potential they show or how "gifted" they are.
