I've read a couple things on this site about a 5x5 program this is the link I found http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/wotw56.htm.
The question I have is where it talks about training each body part twice a week, that you should do them in compound exercises with isolated ones mixed in.
How would you go about doing this for the bis and tris?

The most effective compounds for bis and tris are chins and close grip bench press, respectively, in my opinion.

Yeah that's how I would approach it.
It's tough to train arms really heavy with isolation exercises, especially with good form. When I used to try to do heavy DB curls or heavy overhead extensions I felt I was getting nothing out of them because my form would get sloppy.
That said, when I train arms I usually hit them with 3 sets of heavy, low-rep compound exercises each and then a few isolation supersets with the goal of getting as big a pump as possible.New life in place of old life
