The only potential problem I see is sodium. Personally I like sodium, especially if I do a lot of cardio. I usually get my sodium from Frank's Red Hot, lol.

Beef jerky is a low quality protein mainly because of the processing it takes to create. Dehydration salt sugar smoke etc...
Plus only the absolute worse cuts of meat are turned into jerky (commercially at least)

I eat it all the time for a snack. I usually get the Jack Links with 15 g protein and a few more cals, but the cuts are good. Like they said, only down is the sodium and not a big deal really.

Isn't it better than whey powder though? Whey is the byproduct in making cheese and it seems more processed when you buy it in a tub with all the stuff they add.

I personally like the jerky from Costco. 10 bucks for 2 packs.

Whey rates very high on the b.v. Scale (biological value). Its what bodybuilders use to rate protein qualities.
That being said I'm sure there r lesser quality whey products on the market as well.

Who actually rates this, the supplement company or a bodybuilder?

I would think eating steak and a dehydrated version is greater than a dehydrated dairy goo with stuff add and taken out. Less processing involved and keeping the enzymes and other nutrients in.

    whole foods > supplement

I and many people get gas from whey and not from jerky, if that is an indication of digestibility.

Sodium is the only bad thing. If you make your own beef jerky then it can be good. Sodium is only bad in that it can raise blood pressure and makes you retain water. Other then that, eat up but I wouldn't be pounding down a ton but for a snack or two daily, I see no issue.
I Rep back always. Put it in comment.

Sodium can make you retain water but why worry about that? It's just temporary.
