I got the Artec Powerbrick, powers 8 pedals. 6 at dedicated 9V, 2 at variable from 6V to 12V (so you can run an older pedal at lower voltage for the 'dying battery tone' that can sound really cool), it's pedal sized and only $60
If you need an 18V, there's tons of jumper Y cables to combine 2 outputs
this seller was great, 2 of the little cables were shorting, so he tested 2 more and shot them to me ASAP

Just got in my Engl Raider, really nice amp. Very high gain, not necessarily 'metal' without an EQ in the loop. But versatile and nice sound so far. Just got it, so need some time.

Not sure what I want my next dirt pedal to be. I'm rocking a Fuzzrocious grey stache (muff) and Fuzzrocious dark driving (od). And a dwarfcraft great destroyer. Thinking about a rat clone, or something. I know Fuzzrocious makes one. Anyone have any ideas?

In the hunt for a 7 or 8 string, but don't want a baritone scale, so it may be just a 7.
Why not baritone, my upper six string tuning playability is my number one concern.lift big 2 get big

I'm a beginner that wants to try some guitar. I have narrowed it down to these two. I know they are value packs, but I'm not trying to spend more than $250 for everything I need.
epiphone les paul:

ibanez IJX2000:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guita...tar-value-pack
I like the ibanez better, but the epiphone is cheaper. Thoughts?

^ go to a music store and play both of those guitars before you buy. never buy blind, one could look like a piece of chit but play better for you.
print out a page with the fingerings for some basic chords like D, A, and E. or just wank around on both of them. they could feel the same for a beginner, I can't remember, and in that case you should go with what you prefer*** Misc Cigar Crew ***

Also, what does "setting up" the guitar mean? If you buy a guitar new, is this already done, if not how much does it usually cost? As a beginner do I even need to worry about this?

as a beginner I wouldn't worry about it unless your guitar becomes unplayable for reasons such as high action (distance between strings and fretboard), or your neck is noticeably warped. I wouldn't spend money setting up a guitar that cost less than $500, because it can cost upwards of $75 where I live.*** Misc Cigar Crew ***

Have you ever checked out the Agile guitars that Rondo sells on their website? They're best known for their Les Paul copies (I have one, it's great), but they also do quite a few seven and eight strings. They have a great reputation for quality at an affordable price. It's a good way to test the waters with an extended range guitar without spending a ton of money or settling for a crappy instrument. Here's a good example -- they're asking $360:

They also have scratch and dent items from time to time, but they go fast because they're so dirt cheap. Just search their site for "b stock".

someone in this or the other thread recently bought an Agile and really liked it. can't recall who, but that's two great reviews of a brand I'd never heard of

yes, but I can get a used RG7321 Ibby for $200 and an RGA7 for under $300
If I'm going to spend $300 or so, it's an ESP LTD SC-337 or Ibby RGA7 or ARZ307
I looked at the Douglas Grendel 725, but their quality is hit or miss.
I want a hardtail. The Agile Septor 725 is $315
Wish I could afford a Pendulum 72527 though

Bought one of these Ministar Castar guitars for travel.
25.5 scale, the bars come off and the case is a long rectangle that can fit in an airplane overhead bin behind the other bags

Yes, it's hanging on my wall.
I have been there several times looking at them, but this was still on the top row in the back of the used section. I was already marked down, and the manager and I have worked together a lot, so he cut me a hell of a deal.
It is as clean as the new RG7421 they have for sale. And it just FEELS better. Arched top, active pickups, etc.. just a nicer guitar for about $50 more than a used RG7321. BTW, the RG7321's are all over GC used for $199 + ship + tax.lift big 2 get big

I don't own any of Agile's 7-stringers, but I do own a mid-range LP clone (Dauntless) and couldn't be happier for the money. The sustain isn't tremendous, but aside from that, you're not going to find many guitars that are better for the price. It plays as well as similar Gibsons/Epis for a much higher price.
I've heard good things about the 7 string guitars they put out though. I have a few songs by a guitarist named Keith Merrow on my iPod, and he has some videos of his playing on 7-string and 8-string Agiles from a few years back.
