I figured this because every sunday was my cheat day and that's when I always looked the best, and I had trained the previous 3 days. Actually monday morning was always the best because I woke up full with tight skin and vascularity no matter how much junk I ate and how much fluid i drank the day before. Only problem is I tried this the day before my comp and yes I looked good in the morning but by afternoon I had smoothed out which cost me a 2nd place finish.
Definitely won't do that again.

My peak week starts this Saturday (show is April 2nd) , I've been low carbing it all week and will continue though Sunday... then Mon I will really bump up the carbs and load and slowly taper back down through Thursday. Friday i will have the majority of carbs at night, then have my show day meals in place. This early peak week carb load follows Dr. Joe's logic and similar to what Dr. Layne mentioned previously. also, workouts will continue through the week with circuit training at the end. Water will be 2.5 gallons a day.

Dr. Joe and Layne both use this method depending on the athlete. It can be difficult to fully fill out a depleted bodybuilder in a short amount of time. There is a great interview with Dr. Joe regarding this.

Thanks for the response. That link doesn't take me to an interview LOL, or I'm missing it.
Thanks for your opinion. I was thinking nearly the same.
Thanks for replying. Are you saying "days before" as in earlier in the week or later in the week, right before the show?
Excuse my n00by-ness obviously I still need to research the topic."Every time I show up, it's a reflection of who I am..."

Layne, watched your new series on peak week last night. Very well put together and should be a sticky if not already. Very informative/no BS/to the point article. Should clear a lot of things up for many people. The amount of effort and time put in that video just goes to show how much of an impact you have in the bb community. Natural bodybuilding is growing fast and you as well as many big names have contributed the most to it. Big thanks!

Our Arnold, whose arms are heavy,
Vascular be thy veins
Nine sets of lunges, ten reps be done,
To add girth as it is to strengthen.
Give us this day our daily protein, and forgive us our fats,
As we forgive those who eat fat too.
And lead us not into overtraining, nor deliver us pizzas,
For thou art the king of the dumbell, the power clean, and the steroids forever,
Amen.

I have a question.
I read the first post, Layne, and it all makes sense. Now, I know when I'm flat and when I'm not. When I'm flat, I look SMALL, and I'm not THAT tiny of a guy. Now, the other day, and not on purpose, it was one of those situations where water had been drawn out of both the muscle and the subcutaneous layer. Never the less, even though I was flat as hell, I was dry as all hell, which made me look the leanest I've ever looked. What if that leaner, yet flatter, look is what will win the competition as opposed to being a little fuller but a little smoother as well? THEN do you have an issue against cutting water?Fat to Fit to Fat to Bodybuilder

Not to go against you in anyway, but the original post regarding this issue was based on the ester used with the compound. That really does not play as much of a part as the compound itself does. I.E. Test prop would be much different then Tren Ace at those last few days (esters being relatively similar). It is not the ester so much as it is the compound.

Bumping my favorite thread here as I'm competing in 5 weeks. What are everyone's thoughts on a small acceptable carb load for a person 5`7 and approximately183lb. I'd rather come in slightly under than overload and spill.
Bodybuilding is all about image not numbers, when you're up on stage your lifting stats and bodyfat % means nothing to the judges.
