I've been working in chinatown (manhattan) all week and it just makes it easier than hunting down other restaurants... and I'm still in Ketosis, loving life. Chinese gets a bad wrap IMHO. You just have to order the right stuff.
I've been eating:
Steamed chicken and veggies... I just pour on some hot sauce and maybe one packet of soy sauce and I'm good to go.
Chicken/Beef teriyake: Sure it has a little sauce, but honestly... not all that much. At least not enough to kick me out of keto after eating it 3 times this week. I order them well done and again, pour on the hot sauce...
String Beans in Garlic Sauce: No sugar here, just plain good.
The menus are filled with tons of keto friendly stuff. Soups, veggies, chicken, steak, pork, fish... If you just stay away from the obviously keto-unfriendly foods (ie. sweet and sour chicken, general tso's, rice, noodles, etc) you're doing just fine.
I'd rather eat chinese over another fast food restaurant any day...

The nice thing about Chinese places is, they are often buffet. (Florida anyway)
They often have good steamed veggies. Sometimes they make some great green tea for you just make sure no sugar!
And since they are usually buffet down here I like to absolutely gorge(I use to use ckd clean on the weekdays booze and babes my carbups, were sloppy as **** and not the best by far. But I cut bodyfat while boosting muscle mass and strength.
Lots of porks/beefs and chickens. With the good spicy sauce.
I admit when I first think Chinese I think of rice and wontons. Lots of hot sauces usually. I do not like Chinese food these days.

I suppose Egg drop soup would be relatively low carb, and have a somewhat decent amount of fat/protein.
I'll have to check out my local place sometime, and make sure the meat I get isn't breaded. I always feel like the hot sauce restaurants use is a different concoction than what you'd buy in-store, and I'm never sure if that's a good thing or not. If it's just one of those things where they add a stick of butter, then thumbs up haha.
The one problem is that, to me, chinese food is just not chinese food without rice I'm lucky enough that my local place allows you to sub in brown rice for an extra dollar, but that makes no difference on keto.
My favorite chinese food is Genreal Tsao's, and unfortunately it's one of those things that's a big negative no matter what portion of CDK you're in - too many carbs for keto, too much fat for carb-up.
Not a concern though. In all honesty, I had it maybe twice a year when I wasn't on Keto, so my cravings are nowhere to be found.

I need some quick advice.
My friend wants to go to a chinese take-out tomorrow.
My choice is between lemon chicken or General Tao chicken.
Is either safe to eat? (General Tao comes with broccoli and the lemon chicken might have sugar in the sauce I am assuming)
So can I at least try the general tao?
I have been strict with my diet for the last two weeks and I want to treat myself to something.|| My Life is My Inspiration ||

^^ this. & i don't even consider chinese take out to be a cheat what so ever, especially since the sodium is of no problem to me since i'm obviously not competing & drink tons of water. anyway. i always just eat the protein + veggies. ... unless i'm stressed. then the carb crap seems to sneak onto my plate somehow. =/

At Chinese take-out, General Tsao is almost ALWAYS breaded and then fried, so it usually has a substantial amount of carbs and fat (as I stated above, I feel like it's not safe in Keto or in carb-up). Also, the sauce is usually a little spicy but also sweet, meaning there's a pretty decent amount of sugar in it. I would only get General Tsao from Chinese take out if I were on a carb-up day, and even then I would be careful.
But if the Lemon chicken is really just unbreaded chicken cooked in lemon juice (a little bit of carbs, but safe for Keto as long as you don't over-do it), I would most certainly go for that.
