I figure it's time to talk about Dogfish Head, brewers of some seriously strong beers. Definitely one of the more wacky brewers I've ever tried. Here's a list of their beers I've tried.
Main site: http://www.dogfish.com/brews-spirits...rews/index.htm
Palo Santo Marron: packing an ABV of 12, it'll get you drunk fast while blowing your mind with a very unique flavor.
60 Minute IPA
90 Minute IPA
120 Minute IPA
The IPA's are great IPA's and obviously get progressively bitter and alcoholic.
Raison D'Etre: this thing is thick and sweet and really does overflow with the flavor of raisins and syrup. ABV of 8
Midas Touch: this **** has a strong perfume to it, highly recommended for at least one try. ABV of 9
Punkin Ale: this is my favorite pumpkin-style seasonal beer. Thick and filling. ABV of 7
Now I'd really like to get my hands on their 18% ABV World Wide Stout. Oh yeah!

60 min IPA-Crap!
90 min IPA-Crap out of bottle and nirvana out of tap. I consider this beer, on tap, to be my bench mark for all DIPA/IIPA
120 min IPA-Crap the 1st yr but gets better at yr 2. Looking forward to yr number 3 before I pop open another one of these.
Raison D'Etra was good, from what I recall but Raison D'Extra was great. Nice and smooth with the flavors to balance the alcohol content.
Midas Touch-had a 4 pk yrs ago. Key words "yrs ago"
Punkin Ale-Crap out of the bottle but much better off tap.
Burton Baton was very good from what I recall. Had 1 bottle of it about a yr ago and am looking forward to this yrs batches. Hopefully I will be able to find some my local liquor store.
My over all view of DFH is most of their beers are tap only quality. They loose the translation going into the bottle. And for the higher alcohol content ones, they age very very well.Official Supp. Misc Beer Crew

I am a big fan of Dogfish Head for a number of reasons, but I think what has earned they're place in my Beer Respect Chart is simply that they do what they want and they take some risks. All to often there are brewers that don't want to take risk and keep everything easy going, but DFH mixes it up pretty well. To me, the best example of this is the Theobroma brew. A pretty cool story and some wild ingredients, oh yeah...it tastes pretty damn good too.

Thats a plus for them. I too like the history behind there brews, even if I do not care for the brew ie Midas Touch and Chateau Jiheau. It's nice drink brew and taste what the ancient greeks tasted.
Edit...I would also like to try the 90 min through Randall the Enamel Animal.Last edited by icetrauma; 04-20-2009 at 09:29 AM.

I may be biased 'cause I live locally, but Sam Adams makes a damn good beer. I was at a local Beer event this weekend, had about 25 different beers. Very good time. If I don't go local, Victory out of PA makes some great brews for sure, especially the Whirlwind ale. To go very local, I go to my kitchen, and pop a bottle of my own brew. Been brewing for 2 years now, and it never gets old. If there's one true crutch I have with staying in shape, it's beer. It just tastes so damn good, and is so refreshing....
Overall, my favorites are Westvleteren 12, Sam Adams Utopias, Duvel, and most white/wit ales......i remain, he who remains to be...

Utopia is pretty good IMO if you really like beer, not really worth the hefty price tag though as I've had beers/meads at a fraction of the cost that were as good. I like Sam Adams but I feel like they're a bit overrated as a whole. It's worth trying if you can split the cost, I tried it when a friend of mine got a bottle for his birthday and he shared it.
Edit: WOW I didn't know it was so expensive now, I swear when my friend got it his brother paid less than $175 for it.Last edited by lambpasty; 04-23-2009 at 09:37 AM.

This is what I've heard about Youngs from quite a few people, so I guess I probably won't bother with it. Rouge is supposed to be a pretty good brewery from what I hear, I know a few people who like them a lot. I've seen a handful of chocolate stouts at my local store, maybe I'll have to give them all a try
Had a hell of a time down in NC last week, went to a few restaurants that all had amazing beer selections contrary to what I was expecting. Tried a few java stouts and a few great smoked stouts as well, all on draft and a few were local brews. Really got me back in the good-beer-drinking mood haha.Last edited by lambpasty; 04-23-2009 at 12:07 PM.

Rouge's Choc. Stout is the best I've had. Enjoy the Chimay Grand Reserve. My brother in law and I got my wife's brother **** faced on Chimay GR. He was talking so much **** it was unreal. He downed 3 chalices of Chimay in 45 min. He poured his 4th glass and passed out in the chair. I was pissed because he wasted a 10 month old bottle of Chimay! Anyway, he walked up the drive way, bouncing off of my wifes Expedition, and as soon as he got passed the front bumper. He ate the ground. He also jacked my Christmas lights. He then walked his drunk as to the back bathroom were he passed out until that morning. He then moved his sorry ass to the middle bathroom and fell asleep in the tub, clothes on and everything. Needless to say he did not come out of his room until the 23 of Dec. We were drinking the night of the 21st. The first words out of his mouth were how in the hell did I end up in the bathroom. We laughed our arces off. He now respects the Grand Reserve.
You sir are correct. Youngs sucks ass! I sent a friend of mine to the local liquor store and told him to buy the Sam Adams Choc. Bock. The beer guy at the store directed him to the Youngs Double Choc. Stout. He came to me the next day and looked at me like I was crazy recommending that ****. I asked what he got and he told me the Youngs. I told him the beer guy was full of shiat. Why recommend a stout, a piss poor one at that, to someone who does not like stouts.
Def. give Rogue a go. It's good stuff.Official Supp. Misc Beer Crew
