    Take a break
Play an active role in your world, and yet spend some time apart from it as well. On a regular basis, take a break. Get some rest. Listen to nothing but quietness. Relax in empowering peacefulness. Recharge your spirit and re-focus your mind upon the things which are truly important to you.

What you achieve on the outside comes from the strength you have within. Keep that strength healthy, growing and well directed. Your power to create and accomplish can work against you or it can work for you. The guidance you give it, born of the strength of your spirit, will make all the difference.

Nourish the essence of your being with time and thought spent away from the clamor of a complex world and a busy life. Then get back in and give true meaning to every moment of that life.

    Live your purpose
When you believe in something and are committed to it, you will find a way to achieve it. Wealth and skill with no clear purpose will always, in the end, yield to the undeniable strength of an effort which is dictated and directed by genuine commitment and belief.

The challenge of accomplishment is to build and maintain a solid connection between the mechanics of achievement and the driving purpose which compels that accomplishment.

It is not enough to know what you desire. You must know, without a doubt and in all sincerity, why you desire it. And you must be committed to that reason, with all the best you have to give. Then it will happen.

Look beyond the goals and get in touch with the purposes from which they spring. Put the power of belief and commitment behind your actions. Live your purpose and you'll be living very well indeed.

    Weary
Your weariness is not an excuse to quit. It is a confirmation that you're making progress. Sustained, effective effort can be tiring indeed, and yet the rewards of that effort are great.

Though effort will make you tired and weary, the lack of effort is far worse and ultimately much more tiring. The weariness that comes from honest, effective effort will quickly be soothed by a good rest. The weariness that comes from aimless drifting knows no such relief.

Rest when you're weary. Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your spirit. Then get back to work. The effort is difficult. That's what makes it worthwhile. Focus on the objective and move steadily forward. Keep going until the job is done and the goal is accomplished. Your weariness is evidence that you're already paying the price. Make sure you stick around to reap the eventual rewards.

    Forgive and live free
Have you ever carried a grudge for a long time, and then finally let it go? What a sense of relief it can bring when you decide to forgive.

There is a cleansing and refreshing freedom which comes from forgiveness. When you've been hurt, does it make sense to perpetuate the hurt? No, of course not. No one would want to do that. And yet we are often so reluctant to forgive.

Forgiving someone does not mean you must trust them or allow them into a position where they can hurt you again. Forgiveness means simply moving on. Forgiveness does not have to make you any less vigilant or any more vulnerable. Forgiveness does not mean that what happened was acceptable. It means that you've chosen to no longer let it hold you back.

There is no real continuing benefit which comes from being a victim. Practice forgiveness and you'll free your spirit to live positively each day, unburdened by the past mistakes of others.

    You can expect it
All the things you hope to become, all the things you would like to accomplish, all the things you plan to do, don't carry much weight in comparison to those things you actually expect to become, to accomplish and to do. The best crafted plans are meaningless unless you sincerely expect to follow through on them. The most magnificent dreams will elude you until you can truly and confidently expect to achieve them.

You will have what you expect to have. You will achieve what you expect to achieve. You will be the person you expect yourself to be. Your expectations for this day, this year, this life will significantly impact you outcomes. Raise your expectations, and you raise the quality of your life.

Can you expect great things for yourself? Yes, indeed you can. Will you? That is completely up to you.

    Experience life
The worst thing that can happen is nothing. Though there is a risk of failure in any undertaking, there is a certainty of failure when you never even make the attempt.

Each time you get hurt, each time you fall short of the mark, you add another excuse to your arsenal. But excuses won't bring anything of value to your life. They only make you more skilled at avoiding the abundant goodness that life has to offer.

Forget the excuses. Stop worrying about failure. Life is yours to be lived. You'll gain nothing by hiding from it. The cold wind on your face may sting a little bit, yet it lets you know you're alive.

Fill each moment with new experiences. Fill each day with effort directed toward a meaningful purpose. It sure beats hiding in the corner. Though you'll occasionally stumble, you'll be stumbling forward, and enjoying the abundant experience of being alive.

    Welcome the feelings
When you can accept and even welcome your feelings, they lose their power over you. Do you feel lousy today? Instead of making that something to fight against, let it be. Accept that you feel lousy, and suddenly it's not so bad. That negative feeling begins to fall away from you when you loosen your grip on it.

Your feelings help you to perceive, understand and interact with the world. They are yours to experience, to learn from and to enjoy. Accept them all. Welcome them all. Fighting against them or resenting them does not make them go away. In fact it gives them more power.

Welcome your feelings. Experience them and then let flow on along. Each one is a positive confirmation that you're fully alive. Each one can help you to understand yourself. Let them fill your life. Don't let them dominate it.

Each day you'll move forward past a whole lot of different feelings. See them as milestones along the way, not there to slow you down, but to keep you moving positively ahead.

    Responsibility
The things for which you are responsible are the things over which you have control. If you attempt to seize control, you'll be met with fierce resistance. Yet when you offer to accept responsibility, you'll be welcomed with open arms.

Lots of people are quick to claim "it's not my responsibility." By so doing, they deny themselves the best opportunities. If you desire to have an influence, if you desire to make an impact, you must be willing to take responsibility.

Those who fail to exercise their responsibilities quickly lose them. Those who step up and take responsibility when no one else is willing to do so, consistently expand their level of influence and authority.

Influence, effectiveness and achievement are earned, and responsibility is a critical part of the process. Any time there's a need for someone to take responsibility, there's an enormous opportunity. Those who have the foresight to accept it will rise quickly to ever-increasing success.

    What is right
You can endure almost anything when you know what you're doing is right. You can find a way to rise to any challenge, accomplish any objective, transcend any obstacle when you know you're doing the right thing.

Are you doing what is right? Is it right for the person you are? Is it right for those you love? Is it right for the beliefs you hold? Is it right for the goals you have set for yourself? Is it right for the world in which you live?

Doing what is right will harness the full power of your being. Doing what is right will put truth and goodness on your side. Doing what is right will leave you with no need to make excuses or to suffer regret.

With every action, with every contemplation, with every decision, ask yourself a simple and powerful question. Is it right? Put your time and energy into doing what is right; the resulting efforts will be powerful, effective and fulfilling.

    Out of the ordinary
Ordinary is anything but. It is ordinary for the sun to rise every morning in the east. Yet consider the monumental and perfectly balanced dynamics which make it so. It is ordinary to speak with a friend on the phone. Yet when you think of the physical complexities, the social, linguistic and technological accomplishments necessary for such a feat, it is indeed amazing.

We may think of a miracle as something out of the ordinary, yet that which is ordinary is itself a most wonderful miracle. From ordinary days come exceptional joy. From ordinary lives come outstanding accomplishments.

In every ordinary moment is possibility, and there's nothing ordinary about that. The fact that life often seems so ordinary, and that we take so much of it for granted, is a powerful testament to the all-encompassing quality of its wonder.

Enjoy the ordinary moments. Make the most of them. And keep in mind that within them are the most extraordinary things you could possibly experience.

    It's your life
When you blame others for your problems, you give up your ability to solve them. Do you really want to do that?

No matter who may have done what, your best strategy is to take responsibility for it. Though it may be their fault, it's your life. Don't depend on those who have hurt you in the past to help you in the future. Forget about who is to blame. Focus on what is to be done.

If you're not satisfied with your circumstances, it's up to you to change them for the better. Certainly there are many things outside your control. Accept them, adjust for them, and put your efforts into moving forward as a result of your own thoughts, your own actions.

The energy it would take to blame and hold a grudge can be used instead to make a positive difference. Rather than perpetuating something unpleasant in your past, choose to leave it behind. Create your future the way you would like it to be.

    Choose your response
We often say things such as "She makes me furious. He makes me nervous. This job stresses me out. That's driving me crazy." As true as such statements may seem, they're not accurate.

When you are angry, or nervous, stressful, fearful, offended or excited, it's due to a choice you have made. The other person or situation does not make you that way. You have chosen to respond that way.

Most such responses are so familiar they've become automatic. Yet they don't have to be. They depend on your choices, and you control those choices.

The way you respond to every situation is up to you. When making that choice, it pays to consider what will happen as a result of that choice and to ask yourself if it will have a positive impact on your life. You can choose to respond in whatever way you wish. So rather than putting those responses on auto-pilot, select those which will move your life, and the world in which you live, positively forward.

    Every step
Even the most difficult challenge can be broken down into finite, easily accomplished steps. People who only take some of those steps will fall short of the goal. Those who are willing to take all the steps will enjoy success.

Some people will often take a few steps and then stop, complaining about how unfair life is. Others will take some steps in one direction, grow bored, and then start off in another direction, only to become disillusioned.

The only way to success is to go all the way to success. Take one step after another until you are there. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out. It doesn't take exceptional strength to get it done. What it takes is desire and commitment. You have them if you choose to use them.

The path to any success is in front of you, and you are free to travel that path, one step at a time. Each step is within your reach. It's up to you to take them all, every one of them.

    Encourage you
The person you pay the most attention to is yourself. The things you say to yourself, you tend to believe without question. Unfortunately, too many people talk too negatively to themselves too much of the time.

The good news is that it's very easy to correct that problem. After all, you control what you say to yourself. So choose to be positive when talking to yourself. Rather than thinking "I'll never be able to do that" tell yourself "This is a great challenge that will bring out the best in me."

Have you ever offered words of encouragement to someone else? That's great! Remember to give yourself similar encouragement on a regular basis.

Let yourself know that you believe in you. Remind yourself that you are worthy and capable of the best life has to offer. You are your own best motivational speaker. Make a point to give yourself some positive encouragement every day. It will truly bring out the best in you.

    What do you see?
Some people look at the world around them and see endless problems. Others look at the same world and see unlimited opportunities. Some people look at their job and see a way to just get by. Others look at a similar job and see ways in which they can distinguish themselves.

Some look at what must be done and become discouraged. Others look at what can be done and become enthusiastic. There are those who are skilled at seeing the excuses. There are others who are able to see the possibilities.

What do you see? What you see depends not on what's there so much as it depends on what you're looking for. Those who enjoy success and achievement are those who are able to see that success and achievement. What you can be, and have, and accomplish and experience depends not so much on where you're looking as it does on what you decide to see.

    Great experience
Experience is something that can never be taken away from you. Though the material things you possess will rust, fade, peel, crack, break and become obsolete, the experiences you live through will stay with you always.

Every day is filled with so many opportunities to experience the richness of life. Yet it's all too easy to get into comfortable habits and fail to take advantage of those opportunities.

The greatest treasures you'll ever have are the moments you spend living life fully, moments spent with those you love and care about, moments lived passionately in pursuit of a vision, a dream or an accomplishment.

As you go through this day, keep in mind what an incredible, irreplaceable, great experience life is. Wherever you go, whatever your circumstance, fill the moments with meaning and richness. Today is a special day, a day to be alive. Live it with joy, with wonder and intensity. Your great experience is happening now.

    Self discipline
Self discipline is the way to turn your intentions into reality. Self discipline is the way to transform your weaknesses into strengths. Without discipline, even when you know what you want, you're unable to achieve it. Without discipline, even though you know what you don't want, you're unable to avoid it.

Self discipline is essential to living life on your own terms. It takes effort, it takes determination, it takes sacrifice, yet it is not a punishment. Rather, it is a fulfillment, the means to reaching your highest and best possibilities.

How do you "get" self discipline? You already have it. It involves nothing more than controlling your own actions, and you've been doing that since you were a child. To discipline yourself, you simply must decide to do it. The powerful tool of self discipline is yours to use whenever you're ready to start living life on your own terms.

    Kindness
In any situation, you have a choice of how to react. When things are tense, frantic and hurried, stop and show a little kindness. An encouraging word, a helpful gesture, an offer of assistance or understanding can go a long way to turn things around.

It is easy to complain when things aren't going right. It is easy to criticize everyone and everything. But where does that get you? Perhaps a little kindness and understanding would help to change the situation. It certainly won't hurt.

People will respond to kindness. If you want someone on your side, if you want to persuade someone to see your point of view, one of the best ways is to approach them with sincere kindness and caring. It can diffuse a tense situation. It can help you to build rapport. And it must be sincere. It must come from the heart.

Try a little kindness, with no expectations of anything in return. It will improve your outlook, your effectiveness, and it might even lower your blood pressure! Put some kindness into the world and you'll like what the world gives back.

    Wrapped in comfort
It's nice and comfortable to lie in bed an extra hour or so on a rainy Saturday morning. Yet if you stay in bed all day, that's not comfortable at all. Being comfortable is pleasant up to a point. After that point, the comfort is no longer desirable and can in fact become quite unpleasant. Too much comfort can smother your life.

Just as staying in bed all day would make you weary, the satisfaction of any comfort soon fades away. Eventually you ask yourself, "What's so great about being so wrapped in comfort?" And you have trouble finding an answer.

Comfort is enjoyable. Thankfully that enjoyment doesn't continue indefinitely. No matter how comfortable you may be, soon you get hungry for life, for challenge, for the opportunity to make a difference. Pay heed to that dissatisfaction. Get out of your nice warm bed while it's still nice and warm. Move beyond your comfort zone before it smothers you. There's so much more to life than mere comfort. Experience it all!

    Spread joy
When your day is filled with troubles, rejoice! You've been given a challenge worthy of your strength, and one which will build that strength even more.

Don't wait for happiness and joy to come to you. Let them come from you. Spread joy and you will know joy. Pay no mind to the circumstances. They come and go. Let your joy transcend them and transform them. The troubles of the moment will soon be history. You, on the other hand, have the privilege of being alive and able to move beyond any past disappointment, no matter how severe.

Fill your heart with joy and you'll be amazed at how many positive possibilities suddenly pop into view. Put a smile on your face and watch your actions become more effective. Spread joy to your world and feel the warmth of it coming back to you.

This is a great day to be alive. So be alive with joy and make it even better.

    So do it
Do what needs to be done. Say what needs to be said. Listen to the things you need to hear. Learn what you need to learn. Explain what you need to explain.

Rather than constructing elaborate methods for avoiding these things, or elaborate excuses to evade them, just get them done. Instead of letting things slip and continue to weigh you down, get them done and let your actions energize you. The avoidance of effort is just as difficult as effort itself yet avoidance accomplishes nothing positive.

Success is not always easy, yet it is for the most part simple. The way to accomplishment is not hidden. It is in plain view. You can see what must be done. Stop fretting. Quit worrying. Don't complain. You know what you need to do. So do it.

    Ups and downs
For every disappointment you're experiencing there's a step you can take right now that will begin to move you away from that disappointment. For every weakness or limitation there's a step you can take right now that will make you stronger.

The negative things often are better at capturing your attention, yet there are just as many positive possibilities which can capture your imagination and inspire you to move ahead.

Each time a disappointment comes your way, each time you encounter a discouraging situation, challenge yourself to find something positive and compelling to offset it. The world is full of ups and downs. The quality of your life depends not on how many ups or downs come your way, but rather on where you choose to direct your focus.

    Living with it
You'll only live this day once, yet you will live with it for the rest of your life. Today you have the opportunity to take action, to make things happen, to create, to express yourself, to be with those you love, to experience the beauty that's around you.

Yet once the day is done, it's done. You can't rewind and go back. You must get it right the first time.

The way you spend this day will have repercussions which will echo through your life for years. You have the opportunity right now to control whether you'll look back on today with satisfaction or with regret.

So what will it be? That's up to you. Today is here right now. It's your opportunity to fill your life with value and meaning. Make it a day you can continue to live with and enjoy.

    Comfortable doubts
Have your doubts become too comfortable? It's easier to doubt than it is to do. When you doubt that you can accomplish something, the doubt gives you a nice, comfortable place to hide, a reason for not making the effort.

Yet if you keep piling up one doubt on top of another, soon there's no room left for your dreams, your goals, your ambitions. When you seek refuge in the comfort of your doubts, you close yourself off from all the positive possibilities in your life. After a while even the comfort fades, as regret sets in -- regret for opportunities missed that will never come again.

If you fail to prove your doubts wrong, they will eventually prove themselves right. Don't allow that to happen. Get up, get going and make those doubts look foolish. As soon as you start to take action, the doubts begin to fade. The longer you remain committed to your goals, the weaker your doubts become.

Rather than seeking comfort in your doubts, build confidence in your actions.

    Choose to be free
If you think of yourself as a victim, stop that thought right now. Nothing positive will come of it. No matter what has brought you to where you are, it is up to you to move yourself forward. Have forces beyond your control injured you or held you back? Of course they have. Do you really want to depend on those same forces to move you forward?

Though others may be to blame for your situation, you are nonetheless responsible for it. Though you may have many excellent reasons to feel sorry for yourself, such pity will not add anything of value to your life.

If you see yourself as a victim, it is because you have chosen to do so. Does that sound harsh and uncaring? Then keep this in mind. There are many who have suffered even more than you, who have chosen not to be a victim, who have chosen instead to live life on their own terms.

You can choose to be responsible and by so doing you can choose to be free.
