Strong bump on this thread but still an inspirational story to see you overcome such an injury and come back to becoming an monster.

I feel like stories like this will always give hope to those of us who experience this. I love little things like this and will have to write up a journal for my recovery as well.

^damn, injuries really suck. Glad you pulled through and overcame it. I tore (partially I think) a hamstring tendon 10 weeks ago (no surgery) and have gotten strength back on lunges, somewhat leg press, leg extension, but I used to do 100 lb hamstring curls on each leg... Now I still can hardly even do 5 lbs without feeling pain in the tendon. So frustrating but I'm gonna pull thru and compete in november.

I have been working legs 3x per week to gain the size back but my athletic trainer said to cool it doing legs hard 3x per week as that may be the reason I can only do 5 lb hamstring curls when doing physical therapy with her, so hopefully she's right..

yup, still bench and I bench now more than ever. BCAAs & HMB may help some with skeletal muscle remodeling. the biggest thing is to do your PT correctly & as they prescribe and also keep your nutrition solid. The inclination is to say f*** it since you can't lift... but keeping your nutrition in line will be the one thing that you can control

Firstly, I know this thread is from over 10 years ago so hopefully you see this and give it a read would be much appreciated!!!

Hey bro I stumbled accross this thread a few weeks ago while searching the internet as I suffered the same injury to my right pec major while playing rugby league (completely torn in the muscle itself and not at the tendon)
At first the specialist thought it was at the tendon, but while they were operating on me they found that the tendon was intact and it was the muscle that was ruptured, so they sutured it back together best they could and I’ve been in a sling since. Post surgery the specialist told there would be a significant decrease in strength but I’m determined to get back to how I was before the injury and exceed my strength levels. I have my first follow up with orthopaedics tomorrow which will be 5 weeks since surgery.
Being an athlete, playing rugby league and working is a huge part of my lifestyle. At 24 years old this is my first and most serious injury/setback, I have suffered but I’ve taken it in my stride and been positive about the whole situation. Not to mention that at the time of the injury I was in the best shape of my life to date.
I had a few questions and would appreciate it if you had some advice for me as prepare to make my comeback once the sling comes off next week which will be the 6 week mark post op.

    1) At what point did you return performing usual workouts/training and what precautions did you take along the way?
    2) At any point have you been worried that you may have re injured your pec?
    3) Is there anything else you can recommend or advice you can give as I start to begin my journey back to full strength.

Seeing how well you bounced back gives me the motivation to do the same so thank you!!
