Had an appt. with a neurosurgeon today, based on symptoms and pain he thinks I have spondylolysis (stress fracture of the pars in the spine). My x-rays came out fine though, no vertebral slippage or misalignment... so he is referring me to get an MRI. I guess stress fractures don't show sometimes?
Should I try and get a bone scan?
If anyone has had experience with this, or knows about it, any advice? I am gonna need a back brace for 3 months if it is a stress fracture, and I can't even do core strengthening exercises to help it out because they hurt.
same thing happpened to me...i had to get an MRI yesterday and i am still waiting on the results. theyre pretty sure mine is a stress fracture but its up higher in my back than most peoples. its in the area right below my shoulder blades. i dont really know how long ill be out yet but hopefully ill find out tomorow.
