dude from the youtube comments I'm reading $150 and some say $15000 lol. I have no clue but I'm going assume in the $250 range? I'm definitely getting the normal box edition.. I got the medal box edition of FF 12 and it's all scratched and bended a little.

LOL night vision goggles...holy crap I wonder how much thats going to run....and I wonder if I can shift my pre-order considering I just put 25$ towards the game about a month ago.

Wonder if I got the NVG if I can use them for flight school hahahaha

Replacing the HD doesn't void the warranty. It has its own removable slot. Only if you actually open the system does it void it. There was a deal on slickdeals for a 350gb HD I believe for 60 bucks.

I just hope they dont make God of War 3 one of those super easy action games like most are now. Looks pretty ****ing sick so far though. Graphics wise it poops on everything else that moves fast like that.

Canadian Retailer Appears to No Longer Restock 80GB PS3
If true, it falls in line with previous rumors of an impending price-drop.

An internal memo from Canadian retail chain Zellers appears to reveal that they may no longer be restocking their supply of 80GB PlayStation 3's. That may not sound like much of a story, but here's the interesting part -- back in June, a rumor floated that Sony was planning to begin reducing supplies of the 80GB model in anticipation of a price drop, and even the launch of the long-rumored "PS3 Slim."

The memo itself (which was passed along anonymously to Joystiq) is an edict to employees to stop accepting rainchecks for a special offer on an 80GB PS3 with a game less than $30, with the whole package costing $380. But the interesting part is why the rainchecks are no longer being accepted: "We can not accept the rainchecks because we can not promise we could fill them with the same item," the memo reads. Or in other words, it looks like they'll no longer have 80GB PS3's to fill them with.

According to the earlier rumor (passed along by a historically reliable "mole" to ArsTechnica), Sony is planning to restrict supplies of 80GB PS3s in the next few months, leaving only the 160GB model on store shelves, with the intention of selling through those as well. Then, near the end of the year, they'll supposedly introduce the "PS3 Slim" at a lower price. So, yes, if Zellers is indeed no longer restocking 80GB PS3s already, that would seem to fall in line with Sony's rumored plans.

But every bit of this is so far unconfirmed, so don't take any of it as fact yet. It'll be interesting to see, though, whether any other retailers in the next couple of weeks and months find their supplies of 80GB PS3s mysteriously constrained as well.

just got another ps3 (hell yeah) 80gb....but I didn't get anything free....they were advertising the bundle with the show 09 and quantom of solice bluray, but of course they didn't have it

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Features Online Co-Op
A quick look at Team Mission mode.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 may not be coming for a little while longer (it now has an official October 1 release date in Japan), but details on the PlayStation 3 sequel update are beginning to trickle through the Japanese game media. Top among the news this week: the announcement that Sigma 2 will have online co-op, though not as part of the main game story.

According to Famitsu magazine, Sigma 2's "Team Mission" mode will offer a wide selection of one-off missions, which you can choose from freely and decide which characters you want to challenge them with. Having a second player is not a must -- you can play through the missions with a CPU-controlled ally -- but playing online is half of the fun with this sort of thing, right?

Each mission is designed to be finished in one sitting, and most of them will end with one of the epic boss battles that the Ninja Gaiden series is infamous for.

More as it comes.

**** yea, I loved Sigma 1 and I've played NG2 on 360. NG2 is a bit worse but the main gripes I had are being fixed in NGS2 (from what I've read) and it will have the co-op. =D

duuuude NG1 for original xbox is one of my favorite games ever...i never played sigma 1 but it's basically the same with additions...i cant bring myself to buy a 360 for just this game and one other i like (fable 2) so i havent played NG2 yet...but heard the cam angles were the main issue...that should be fixed in sigma 2 im sure...only gripe is i heard that they are replacing the blood with green liquid or something insane like that to tone it down (what the hell for i dont know)...but other than that i am sooooooo pumped for this game...online co-op would be badass...slashing up people from across the world with the misc! anyone know of a USA release date if japan is oct 1?

edit--hey hotmoltenlava...id rep you back but it says i gotta spread, apparently ive repped u recently or im not repping people enough! depending on how long it takes me to spread ill eventually get u back again, just remind me.

Sony Unveils PS3 Dev Kit for Academic Use

It looks like Sony is extending their support for schools and universities with courses geared towards computer engineering and programming.

At the Develop Conference 2009, SCEE R&D's Sarah Lemarie revealed that a PS3 dev kit designed for academic use is in the works.

To quote: "We have started a PS3 Academic Development Programme, and we're referring to the dev kits as mini-dev kits, which I can best describe as being in a closed beta stage at present," said Lemarie. "We'll be opening this beta up slowly."

"Of course universities can use Linux to program on the PS3 but I would really strongly recommend that if you are interested in the PS3 you look into this, as the experience you will get over Linux is quite incredible," she added.

The PS3 dev kit includes a consumer-sized PS3 with a low power function, two USB ports and a full SDK. Sony's cross-platform game engine PhyreEngine will also be made available as part of the program.

Sony has already provided academic institutions with PS2 and PSP dev kits in the past as part of their PlayStation-edu program.

Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition Revealed

The collectors edition of Modern Warfare 2 has been revealed as 'Prestige Edition' in this brief video below. There are three editions being released: Standard, Hardened and Prestige as shown in the video.

Details of the US Pricing for all three packs have been revealed as listed below. Infinity Ward have also http://twitter.com/InfinityWard/statuses/2636041084 that when the original Call of Duty 1 makes its debut on Xbox Live Arcade, it will include full online multiplayer options.

Standard Edition ($60)
Hardened edition ($80)
Prestige Edition ($150)

Prestige and Hardened Editions have not yet been priced in other locations outside of the US.

The contents of all three are as follows:

Standard Edition:
Just Modern Warfare 2 Game

Hardened edition:
Modern Warfare 2 Game, Metal Casing, Art Book, Original 'Call of Duty 1? for Xbox Live Arcade.

God of War Novels Announced by Del Rey Books

Del Rey, an imprint of Ballantine Books at the Random House Publishing Group, announced today that Del Rey Books will publish two novels based on the God of War video game series.

The first novel, GOD OF WAR, will be written by author Matthew Stover and will release in March 2010.

To quote: In the novel GOD OF WAR, Kratos, the game's protagonist, is a great warrior who seeks revenge on the God of War Ares for the deaths of his wife and child. On his journey to Olympus, Kratos must battle great monsters of legend--and fight his own inner demons.

Kratos' quest will take him through a world of Greek mythology transformed, in which the familiar legends take on a terrifying new life--from the Aegean, where Kratos will grapple with the Great Hydra, to the depths of Hades, where Kratos will face death itself, to the heights of Mount Olympus.

With all the thrilling action that got fans hooked on the game, the novel GOD OF WAR takes us deeper into this fascinating world.

Rumor: God of War Movie Script Leaked?!

CinCity2000 (linked above) reports that they've come across the advance script of the God of War movie, which was written by David Self.

The the movie seems to be based on the events on the first God of War. The script (or parts of it) were not published, but the claim is big enough to spark this juicy rumor anew.

Spoiler Warning: We all know what happened in God of War one, and despite the close adherence of the movie to the in-game storyline, the ending will be different: Instead of accepting the offer to replace Ares as the God of War, Kratos refuses, continues his cliff dive, whispering "Your turn, Hades..." as he falls.

Now we turn to who's playing Kratos. For me, no one will ever make a better Kratos than Vin Diesel, and perhaps Goldberg would come a distant second.

Lead game designer David Jaffe, however, wants Djimon Honsou to take the role. Djimon's a great actor and everything, but he doesn't quite give out a fierce Kratos aura like Vin Diesel can.

Just a reminder - this is a rumor, so let's not get carried away... just yet. It's not clear whether the script was part of the Brett Ratner-directed movie that got shelved, or if this one is a new project under a new director.
