    Do you guys want to beat the snot out of posers?

    Everytime I read another section of the forum I want to puke within about 30 seconds.

    One guy describing himself as "the silver back of the weight room" body blog has like a 1 plate overhead press as the big lift.

    Another says a bar will flip off if you pull 2 45's. If hundred's don;t flip it 90 won't. Do these friggin people even visit weight rooms.

    Damn. We have some hose bags, but it still seems like we are about 20 miles ahead of a lot of the forum. I am becoming a seriously cranky old bast@rd.

    This section is usually serious, except for the influx of younger people with retarded questions at times, but for the most part, it's a good section.

    The e-stats and retardation of many of the other forums is humorous, but nothing to get worked up over.

    e-stats are pointless. saw a guy with a bench of 215 yet a claimed overhead press of 250+. made me laugh a little bit. his OHP was also 200 2 months before his claimed 250 press. must be on cell tech.

    My roommate and I were benching as part of our Sheiko routine and we look over at this kid maxing out on bench, but lifting up his shirt and flexing his pecs.... My friend said "man... he doesn't even go down all the way on the bench, why does he think he's hot ****?" I kinda told him to let it go.... there will ALWAYS be idiots and 'posers' as you call it... but let it go man. As long as they don't compare their **** halfass lifts to yours it shouldn't matter. If someone compared their set of 1/4 squats to my set of full squats I would beg to differ - otherwise I do not want to beat the snot out of them.

    This is why I plan to compete in the future...

    I went into the other parts of the forum twice so far. Both times I felt terribly sad for other people. This is the only section on this site that I go on now. Used to even avoid this section as well. Just used the bodyblog as a backup of my online journal from FI. This section has gotten a lot better.

    Arlecchino you really are not allowed to go missing again for more than 1 day anymore. I would go back to ignore on entire section again instead of individual people.

    Just like if I'm forced to train outside of the varsity weight room, I try to ignore most of what I see and get my own workout done with. The difference with a gym and the forums is if I see people peddling advice i know to be wrong I will offer my input, whereas in a gym setting I would only offer advice if asked. There have been many times I just had to turn my ipod up when squatting and hearing nearby conversations on "this will really juice up your pecs" talking about 10 lb flies and similar situations where people are just flat out wrong.

    It isn't worth the trouble and explanation to help someone who doesn't want to be helped. Kinda like the fat guy who loses 6 lbs on atkins the first week telling you its the ONLY thing that works not realizing he simply isn't taking in as many calories anymore and seems to be at the gym more often then before as well.

    lifterg, Yeah sometimes I get like that, but then I refocus on why I'm in the gym. I noticed your age and stats , we're fairly close in age. I've got you by four years. Maybe we feel this way because we've had more years of having to put up with the crap! Like we used to say way back in the seventies, " Same as it ever was!" I try to ignore posers but it's hard when they try to sing every damn hip-hop song on the radio while they work out!



    Best day in the gym--- green lighted 550 deadlift!
    green lighted 425 squat!
    (next atttempt red lighted 495 squat, just barely missed! )
    green lighted 300 bench!
    Worst day in the gym--- the very next week hit the upright with 285 on bench, knocked it out my hand and crushed my right shoulder, can't bench worth crap since!

    Having another hernia surgery March 10, going back to doing pretty boy exercises for awhile after that. Hopefully back to training for seniors powerlifting meet by next year.

    It goes both ways though :P I have several "experienced" lifters warn me about the dangers or squatting, going too low (legal depth, not even oly) and the magic "this is the weight where you must use a belt or your back will explode" lectures.

    the last time i cared about a poser was one of the last session i did at a commercial gym.

    I was doing DE squat, SSB against green bands to a low box, worked up to 365.

    some guy started making snarky comments, i told him it was his turn to lift it.

    dropped it to two plates and watched him get crushed.

    it was funny, but now i don't train at Gold's anymore and it was the best thing to ever happen.

    Saw there was a workout journal and workout programs section. I don't talk about subjects or try to pretend I know about subjects I don't know anything about. Like I don't have a clue about sheiko, 5x5, madcows, etc. so I never go into threads like that even in this section at all.

    Seems like a lot of the people in the workout programs section are much more into trying to do bodypart split type stuff and bodybuilding style exercises. I decided a while ago to forget everything about that. So, don't know how much use I'd be there. Don't think people will appreciate me going in and talking about powerlifting.

    that's funny you say that, because I've heard many bbers say that they avoid the program section "like the plague," because it is overrun by powerlifters.
