I just started doing close-grip bench press after my weighted dips and bench press (with little fingers on the rings of the bar) plateaued and I don't lift way less on the close-grip bench surprisingly. It feels a lot more comfortable and easy to balance this way.
I think I'm going to try a grip half-way between close-grip and my original grip to see if I lift more that way.
What about you guys?

surprised because I was taught that it's basically the wider the better
