UFC to meet with Fedor in June to discuss Lesnar match

Report: Fedor to meet with UFC in June to discuss matchup with Brock Lesnar

In a new interview with Adam Baker of DreamFighters.com, WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko reportedly stated that a meeting with UFC President Dana White is on the horizon.

Me and my management hope to get a chance to talk to Dana White in person in June to discuss a possible fight between me and Brock, Emelianenko is quoted by DreamFighters.com.

Emelianenko competed last month during Affliction and M-1s Day of Reckoning event in Anaheim, Calif. Headlining against Andrei Arlovski, Fedor recorded a first round knockout against the former UFC heavyweight champion.

Despite the quote attributed to Emelianenko, he still has one fight remaining on his current contract with Affliction. In order for Emelianenko to fight Lesnar before his contract expires, Affliction would have to consent and would likely asked to be involved as a co-promoter.

Even if Emelianenko becomes a free agent, M-1 Global still holds his promotional rights and the UFC would have to meet their demands in order to sign a match between Fedor and Lesnar. Since M-1 holds his promotional rights, they would likely desire a co-promotional arrangement as well. The UFC has typically shunned such arrangements in the past.

While attempts to bring Fedor to the UFC have not been fruitful in the past, there is always the possibility of a compromise. Despite having been publicly critical of Fedor in the past, White has expressed a more favorable opinion of the former PRIDE heavyweight champion in recent interviews.

You can just tell when you see this guy I will tell you, he's a bad mother[expletive]. You can just tell by looking at him, White said two weeks ago in an interview on The Bubba the Love Sponge Show on Sirius Satellite Radio.

He's been considered one of the best in the world for a long time, White later added. I'd put him in there against whoever's the top guy at that time. I'd put him in against whoever the top guy is There's a lot of possibilities for Fedor.

He is doing something right though. I have always been perplexed by seemingly idiotic people who are able to make fortunes in business. I have experienced this phenomena numerous times.

I have also seen vice versa. Just because you are book smart does not mean you know what you are doing. Dana has a grasp on what the MMA fan wants and he delivers. I think he will make it happen but not till sometime next year.

Brock is huge but hes slow as ****, the only way he wins is if he catches Fedor with a lucky shot. Fedor would destroy him IMO. Fedor is beastly.

Im a huge lesner fan, I think if he gets his conditioning in Line he will be unbeatable.

his power and fierceness is unrivaled

I think he might keep it closer than many of the "experts" think...but I just don't think he's experienced enough to take on a guy like Fedor.

One thing I like about Dana is he will develope a fighter and not throw him to the wolves unless he thinks he is ready. I read an article were the UFC recently signed a Japanese fighter and stated that unlike Japan he will develope a fighter and not throw him to the wolves.

yeah but my understanding was that some rich dude bought the UFC and Dana just happened to either be his friend or his yoga instructor or something, so basically he has the brainpower of a mouse but he just knew the right person

Dana was the one with his ear open that brought the idea to the brothers. You can hate on Dana White all you want...but that dude took a defunct product and made a multibillion dollar international sport out of it.

maybe you're right and when I spoke to him he had a real off day, I mean like REAL bad

, I dunno. I am more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt if I found out he truly runs the UFC and isn't just a glorified yes man who is paid by the real owners to appear on tv, but I don't know for certain that is the case
