Shin Splint Prevention - What are the toe curl exercises?

What are those exercises where you curl your toes or foot up and down or something? What are they called, cause every time I google toe curls, I get something wierd. Anyone have a link to a gif or video or something?

I do use weights right? Somehow?

That would be for calf though, which I do work. I do the ones on the leg press machine. What about the actual shin muscles. I have no idea wtf a toe curl or w.e. its called is.
