No one needs to do any exercise.

However I feel that any chest workout should revolve around the incline bench and either flat bench, decline bench, or weighted dips (pick 1 of the 3).

Contrary to popular belief, the flat bench does not work your whole pec evenly, and will not build a great chest. It primarily targets the lower part of the pec. If you had to pick either incline, flat, or decline, I'd be inclined to choose incline (pun intended).

I agree with the chazzmeister. Incline is the most important as it is often the weakest and least developed.

I always include an incline movement on chest days.
    "Shut up and lift!"
    "Eat big to get big."
    "Deadlift and grow."
    'Train, Eat, Sleep."
    "Knowledge is power."
"What does not kill you, will make you stronger."

    Ergo sum fortissimus.

    Incline

Inclines are good to work your upper pecs, flat just work lower. Include them in every time or every other time. The added bonus is incline works your shoulders a bit too.

What are you doing for upper pecs? I like high incline DB bench (see Charles Glass) to help fill in the area below the collar bones and complete the connection with my front delts. This was always a weak point for me until I started high incline DB bench.

Inclines are very important for complete pec develpment. But don't get caught up in the "incline>flat" hype. People, at least on this forum, emphasize incline chest work so much, sometimes I think they'll forget the good ol' flat bench altogether.

What?? Flat works the entire chest depending
on how and where you lower the bar.

I try to do all three (incline, flat, decline). If you insist on remaining on a flat bench, you could turn that into a neck press (lower the bar to your clavicle area rather than the nipple area) for a better upper chest stretch.

Incline is a very essential movement. Alot of people do not even do flat bench but would rather do incline at like a 15 degree angle.

If it were merely jokes to go along with the tons of win in this thread, I apologize. Lack of voice inflection makes sarcasm hard sometimes, and I haven't learned yours yet.

I rarely flat bench anymore (it's just not a functional press), but I can tell you that for my training as a strongman, cg inclines are a necessity. I started using it as an accessory lift for my log, but it obviously helps my other event presses as well.

its entirely possible that I just reached TOO far in my attempt to respond in kind to a post that included incline/flat/decline while making grammatical sense

    For those failing to grasp:

your dumb(bell) answers should be bar(bell)red from this thread

Yeah kidneys, I didn't pick up on it the first time either. A little too "between the lines" I guess.
