Over here in Canada our tax money goes to thos esurgeries like gastric bypass etc. When people tell me that I lose it, I cannot stand someone who wastes their life sitting on their ass and doesn't care about losing weight or being healthy because "o theres surgery for it" stop costing people money because you're lazy. Not everyone needs to be jacked but at least treat your body with some respect

People don't realize, yes maybe i lose all that weight fairly quickly, but what am i doing to my body in the mean time. My muscles turn to mush because i cant eat nearly enough calories to be able to expend that energy at the gym, therefore, you end up looking like a horrible mushy mess by no means fit or thin.
A thimble full of water and one saltine cracker is not a meal.
Not to mention there is not nearly enough post surgical consoling and education to ensure patients who have decided to use lap-band as an alternative, do not harm their bodies further with poor diet.

When you are dealing with an obese person, you are not just dealing with their physical condition, but also with a very distorted train of thought. Their thinking is distorted. Her comment was probably a defence statement, probably because she felt challenged by her conversation with you.

Apart from that, if you WERE going to engage in a hopeless argument with her (not a very professional thing to do; I'd just walk away), you should have just said "so, what are you waiting for?"

Send her fat ass to the US Army Ranger school at Fort Benning. She will lose 60 pounds in 61 days... guaranteed. This mentality is cancerous. Fitness fanatics - whether PTs or not - have an obligation to set the example to the rest of the free world. Lazy fat people not only hurting themselves, they are also affecting our infrastructure. Think about it. We spend billions in health care because of people like these. We also had to lower the standards of the military (except the US Marines -- good for you, Devil Dogs) because fat assed civilians can't run or do pushups.

If you want to have the surgery thats fine but you have to get your body ready for the surgery which can take months to a year. When you loose the fat too fast it causes the skin to sag which usually requires more surgery. Just like lipo....they want the quick fix but thats not the way to go. The people usually end up where they started anyway. If you work hard enough you will get results and be cheaper than surgery.

    you think that's bad? lol

when i worked at gnc a few times i'd get women come in for weight gainers so that they could meet the lower threshold of weight requirements (some doctors/insurance companies had a weight requirement) to qualify for a stomach stapling/gastric bypass surgery

This isn't discussed much, but there is also a risk of you not surviving the surgery:

Plus post-surgery with the lapband isn't picnic either. Some people have to get used to being frequently sick, unable to eat any solid food at times, having painful stomach cramps, sometimes even internal bleeding...etc.....etc....its not all that it is made out to be.

its unbelievably frustrating how many fat/lazy people there are that can walk into a hospital show a health card and walk out of gastric bypass surgery and not pay a cent. I think unless you have a condition (severe thyroid problem etc...) you should have to pay for the surgery in full, by yourself. Too many hard working people who have to pay for lazy people to be able to be more lazy.

And don't get me started on people starting to call obesity a disease. It's a bad choice in lifestyle, no ones forcing them to sit around all day and eat

God Bless America! Where the fatties are still held accountable for their actions.

haha you have no idea how much I wished Canada had the same taxation as the states- I'm not a big fan of paying in a higher tax bracket because you decide to go to school/work hard and make more money then someone else
