So you are new and dumb enough to believe the Bowflex commercials, before you get flamed and negged into the red, use the damn search function to get the answer to "dude, should I be ignorant and think about getting a bowflex"
OK, now if you post another thread, you get what is coming to you

About time we had a thread like this stickied! Maybe mention anything made by Icon as well?
Shouldn't you be lifting something heavy instead of reading this?

I was just wondering the other day what the opinion about the Bowflex was around here. The fact that they've been running commercials for it on national television for years now peaked my curiousity, and the fact that I havn't seen a single thread about it here since I joined. I've never considered buying one, because they cost to much and free weights are funner.

What, you come on here for like 2 seconds each week and don't actually read any threads? That's the only way you haven't seen a bowflex thread!
So after seeing a few posts in this sticky, have you figured out what the vibe is here for bowflex?
Personally, I don't like to bust on peoples stuff. So if someone has one I just hope that 1) they bought it used and 2)they use it. I say that because they're not even close to being worth their new price and well, I figure if you at least use what you have, its better than sitting on your ass.
That said, I think it just makes more sense to get freeweights. A rack doesn't take up that much room, you can use your whole body, and you can punish your body far more with a rack than you can a bowflex. And typically....racks are cheaper than bowflex even when new.
The only reason we are having this discussion is because the makers of bowflex have done an artful job at marketing all these years.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

qft; and even worse that the ridiculously high price, where they really nail you is the terms of their installment contract. 16.99% interest, and the default rate (if you miss a payment ) is 25.8%!!! You'll be paying for that thing long after you even quit hanging clothes on it.
No brain, no gain.

"I don't have time to lift, I make time"
Once, at my local gym, I went into the locker room to take a leak. There was this little hairy, naked guy (probably my age) with it swinging down to his knee. He was really showing it off and smiled at me (WTF?!?) and winked. Me, being me, told him out loud, "if you want to impress me with that, have it hold up a barbell with 2 plates a side."

I think it's because everytime some dumbass makes a new bowflex thread or bumps one (even worse - feeding the trolls), the search number changes

I just bought 175 lbs of the pancake plates I've been looking for from a guy with this plan. Got the plates (all 10 lbs or less, perfect), standard curl/6'/and db bars for $45.
Told me he had an ab board too. Said he was selling all his stuff because him and his wife had just purchased a Bowflex. I was just like "....cool stuff, dude...." He seemed like a nice guy, didn't want to insult him.
In his defense, possibly, he did comment several times on how useful Craigslist has been.....so there's a good chance that's how he got it. Which makes it somewhat better.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

lol
I hear ya Sam. Like I've said before, I have less of a problem with the concept of a bowflex, than I do with their quality, insatiable advertising, and ridiculous prices. They are absolutely not for me, but I can understand why some people are drawn to them. That said, for $2000-3000, you can buy a really sweet home gym from a reputable company that will have the look and feel of something that might cost a couple grand. People that buy it just don't know better products are available cause the advertising aint there.
I was just saying I hope he got it used. You shell out a couple hundo on a used but good condition bowflex and its probably worth it if you use it. A couple thousand and its more like the raping that Rage was speaking ofLast edited by Keetman; 02-04-2009 at 02:04 PM.

Wait a minute.....bowflex sucks........you got it already? Well look at the big brain on Stillbroker. Not used to such immediate brilliance from a new member. Congratulations.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

My own Roger Ebert ....this must be the big time!
Hey man! I am flattered that you have been following my input as I only had one post on this topic, you must be a fan of mine or you wouldnt have noticed the other posts. I don't think that my posts would draw any comment if they were meritless, but on the other hand you may just have a Bowflex in your closet. In that case please dont take my comments to heart.
