Well today marks my 6 months. Thanks to all of you in here for helping me out along the way, either directly on indirectly, this thread has helped me more than I can really ever say. My brother's taking me to his favourite meeting this week for a 6 month chip.

Awesome my friend! You have done amazing and I am sure you will continue to amazing! Funny how only 6 months can seem like such a long time when you do it sober. You have helped me stay sober following your progress and am grateful for that.

Thanks dude. This place has been invaluable to me and has kept me sane and fighting for a new goal and stage in my life. I'm quite positive that if it weren't for training and spending so much time on here I'd have given up after a couple of weeks. You guys all keep me motivated and it's nice to hear that I've helped a bit too.

The muscles i value most are the ones directly surrounding the spine, the hips, the scapula, the femur and the tibia... in that order.

Basically the whole body minus chest and biceps... pretty much the opposite of what your local gym looks like on a typical Monday.

"Life sucks better sober." That saying has helped me through many rough patches in the last 5 years. I, too, am facing a probable loss of my job. This time it isn't due to my addiction, its simply a business matter. I will be OK.

    You WILL be OK, too.
    God Bless

Where have you looked for help, BJ? I'm being serious here. If you have tried to stop by just going cold turkey and have failed, like most of us have many times with our various addictions, it may require a more structured program of recovery. Help is out there, but you have to truly desire to change your life. Have you ever been involved with a 12-step program?

Opposite for me. When I drink, I usually don't eat. Sometimes not much at all for days at a time. Since I am trying to build that is terribly detrimental to progress. If I can stay with moderation I can manage to gain slowly. If I can abstain completely I gain fairly steady. When I benge I will loose weight. Every time.

I gain weight when I drink but abstaining doesn't do anything weight wise unless I go on a diet.

yes actually. no opinion on politics as i completely ignore 100% of anything related to it, but being a musician, i have noticed i hear music differently now that i've been sober for a little bit. and i personally love it 10x more than i did before. listening to music better sober is way better than hearing it stoned or drunk. and that's a fact. funny i used to think the opposite.

cant offer any real advice here. i've tried quitting a thousand times and i'm now on day 31 of no weed and almost 3 months without alcohol.

many years of trying to quit, only relapse over and over again. many articles read, lots of hours studying/reading about sobriety, and then joining a recovery group online all lead to me being sober today. was not an easy road.

my life is probably at the toughest it's ever been in my entire life. funny how it happened when i got sober.

It seems to me, too, that things are worse when I am my most sober. It takes a step back and a shift in perspective for me to understand that this isn't truly the case. Its just that, when I'm my most sober, my attention is on those things that are most important in my life.

yes actually. no opinion on politics as i completely ignore 100% of anything related to it, but being a musician, i have noticed i hear music differently now that i've been sober for a little bit. and i personally love it 10x more than i did before. listening to music better sober is way better than hearing it stoned or drunk. and that's a fact. funny i used to think the opposite.

cant offer any real advice here. i've tried quitting a thousand times and i'm now on day 31 of no weed and almost 3 months without alcohol.

many years of trying to quit, only relapse over and over again. many articles read, lots of hours studying/reading about sobriety, and then joining a recovery group online all lead to me being sober today. was not an easy road.

my life is probably at the toughest it's ever been in my entire life. funny how it happened when i got sober.

Thanks brotha. Different threadBomber here. The mods thought I was the same person so they banned me as soon as I signed up. Got that cleared up though.

I was faced with the same situation not long ago. It was during that time I had to really dig deep and find that inner strength to keep me in the right direction. It was tough. One of the toughest times I have ever had. But once I made it through it all sober I was able to pick up where I left off and things got much better. Feels good not having starting all over again years later. Keep moving forward and congrats on the sobriety!

But STILL EFFING SOBER!!! Those are some of the best words that I hear in my life in recovery. Life sucks, but I'm still sober. My kids are all sick, but I'm still sober. My job sucks, and I am going to be layed off, but I'm still sober.

Hope cannot be stifled by the Fear inflicted upon us by our addicts. God always wins, bro. Keep up the hard work.

Was in this thread a while ago. Went sober for a month and then drank again but wayyyy less than I was before. Usually binged 3 days every other weekend. Now Im back in it trying to go fully sober. Currently on 1st week. Been eating healthy, past the shakes, insomnia and sweats so Im feeling pretty good. Going to be a stressful semester but I think Ive got this.
