Finally got up the courage to call an AA place today, but got a recording.I did hear the times for the meetings though. To be honest it took me some time to swallow my pride to actually call(felt good too).been lurking for awhile, even have chimed in a couple of times..only to fall back into my old habits.I just need help turning my life around before something happens....Thanks for listening.

Hey man Not sure if you have heard of FCYPAA but it's Florida Conference of Young People in AA. We just started a group in Delaware and I've been working with one of the leaders from Florida on it. I know Florida does a bunch of events. So far we have done a pool party, have a softball tournament this weekend, and a camping trip in Sept.
For anyone else I believe every other state has these groups and they are for the young and young at heart"If she smokes and has ink, she gives up the pink"- Abraham Lincoln

Rough day yesterday. First day of school for my kids therefore it was the first day of an empty house for me. I really hate waking up to an empty house. I washed my car, did laundry, went grocery shopping, worked out (twice), read, worked on a puzzle and meditated. I really wanted to go the bar for lunch which what I used to do. I got through it and now just have to get through a 32hr midnight shift weekend.

Sounds like a rough day.
I try to get something planned, like lunch with a friend, or hitting a meeting. Being alone with the enemy (our head) is rarely a good plan for us.
Slider nailed it just a couple posts back. This is a WE program.
Good luck grinding out a long weekend.Journal- One of the Ogres

Right now I'm waiting on the Sears washer repair guy (3rd attempt at this, the repair guy keeps falling behind and reports no one is home w/o even coming out) so I have nothing better to do but check this forum while I'm on my back deck trying to cap a pain in the ass ground hog that never comes out when I'm ready.

I found Cognative Behavioural Therapy (CBT) very effective when I changed my life around. Some people stigmatise "therapy", but I've got nothing but praise for it, I now have a coping technique and escape route for "almost" every eventuality that life could throw at me. Worth a shot to anyone looking to strengthen their chances of escaping alcohol.
Peace

Congrats at 5 months.
I have been in therapy in sobriety a few times. My first year I struggled with a crippling social anxiety (tough when you have to go to AA) and I did a 12-week stint in group therapy using CBT through a local university. Worked wonders. I still struggle with it, but not as bad.

I know I was afraid to face some of the people, and afraid to face the consequences of several circumstances.
I don't know that I have ever been too lazy to make amends, but I sure have been too stubborn to make the first move to make things right.
Being free of guilt, resentment and fear allows us to have more fun in sobriety. We don't have to worry about whether we run into Jack or Jill, etc.Journal- One of the Ogres

The best advice I got on that was to keep your list handy.
Pray to "run into" these people.
When you are READY, God will put those people in your path.
A key to remember is that Step 9 is really for us. Therefore, we might not always meet these people.
Be patient.
And the first Step 9 you do, should be to yourself.
Good luck.Small Timid Boy
