Hi. My names Jayson Taylor. im 14. I weigh around 185 pounds. My goal is to lose fat and gain mucle. All my life i haven't been able to do any pushups. I'm a strong guy and other people my age that weight the same as i do atleast do 10 pushups when i fall down when i'm about to lift. I couldn't find any similar questions like this on Bodyspace so i hope this thread isn't worthless. I'm new to bodyspace and i really appriciate all the advice i've been getting.
I don't have acess to a gym, i only have 10 weight DB's. How can i work on the chest?

Start out with modified pushups (on the knees), then go to reg pushups. Make sure to do them right.
And dude, your 14! Your hormones are seriously raging! Take advantage of it now and eat right, lift, and make exercise a part of your life! You say your strong but you cant do a pushup? Work at it!
But just a side note: You shouldnt really start heavy lifting till around 16... but by all means lift, just not too heavy.

I wasen't afraid of feedback from you 20 year olds that are still critisizing online with 14 year olds. If you don't want to help, and if you don't know me, Why must you be so pissed off? Thinking of myself being strong is better then thinking i'm weak. Immature folk like you cannot take that away from me. Pound sand.Never give up

im not pissed. im actually pretty happy cuz ur kinda funny. and of course i wasnt born knowing how to do more than 10 pushups.
i knew i couldnt do 10 pushups before and i knew that meant i was weak. when u can admit to urself that ur not strong then come back and ask for advice. not being able to do 10 pushups is sad

Highhurdler why dont you just stop beatin up on the kid. Let him think he's strong if he wants. Its up to him! One of the keys to lifting is a healthy strong state of mind. He'll learn some day that he's not as strong as its all thought up to be.
Jayson, just start out with mod. pushups and work your way up. Like I said your 14. Eat right, stay hydrated, and exercise HARD and you'll see gains. Your hormones are seriously raging, just get to work bud.Last edited by Mar91; 12-19-2008 at 06:23 PM.

Dude, when I was really young I could do ten pushups. And frankly, I don't think I'm strong now. I just don't know what it is you do that makes you believe you are strong. You can pick up heavy things? Idk.
Try doing pushups while standing or bend over slightly and do them off of a table. You'll eventually be able to do them flat. Or try girl pushups.@24HrTrainerNOLA

this.
i'm not saying anything bad anymore. when you do the exercises people on here tell you to do and you start doing 10 pushups easily you're gonna come back and apologize.
basically, a couple of months from now when you can do wayyyyyyyy more than 10 pushups you're going to realize how wrong you are now. now stop reading the forums and do some work

How can you be strong without being able to perform a single push up? Not trying to be an ******* or anything, but that sounds a bit ironic.
It says on your bodyspace that you have exercise-induced anyphylaxis; which is pretty much being allergic to physical exercise, and yet you are on a bodybuilding forum.
That is like someone whos is allergic to shellfish going to a seafood buffet; it makes no sense.
I would consult with a doctor if I were you. You obviously don't have the physical capacity to workout out on a regular basis and doing so could have serious consequences including death.
That being said, seek proffesional help instead asking a bunch of teens on a forum who are ignorant about your condition.

i wasn't trying to insult you. i just wanted you to realize that not being able to do 10 pushups makes you weak. use this as motivation to work hard. people used to call me skinny and weak all the time. that's what made me come on here and learn how to get bigger and stronger.
now go do what some of the people said and come back in a month and tell us your progress
