    My first meet (BP only - USPF NorCal Open)

    I did BP only because it was my first meet ever. I'm glad I did that too, this meet was really long lol.

    I set a new state record for my age/weight class. 17 years old in the 242lb class. I weighed in at 221 with all my clothes/jacket. I competed in 242 because the record was only like a 265 lbs bench, so I figured I'd just take the record before I turned 18 (today lol).

    I know isaku900 has a thread about this meet already, but I didn't wanna hijack it or anything.

    Here goes!

    First attempt: 303 lbs. did it raw. kind of shaky, but it worked out. I broke the low state record with this lift.





    Second attempt: 336 lbs with my shirt. went well!




    Third attempt: 358 lbs. give or take. I've never SUCCESSFULLY lifted this much before in my life so this was a nice surprise!



    That went pretty well for me so I went for a fourth lift to top my PR/State Record.

    This one is at 369lbs (again give or take. I forgot the exact numbers)
    I missed the lift, but I figured I'd post it anyway.

    I heard steve is gonna try to have some meets that are local for me in like feb/march. if that happens then I'll definitely be at those. besides that I'm just gonna play it by ear, if any come up in norcal soon I'll probably go to em.

    my squat is 335 and my dl is 365.
    i havent been hitting legs hard at all though. im gonna start this week. my goal is to get to a 400+ dl/squat within the next few months.

    Good lift. You're not using your shirt at all though bro - you should be an over 400 bencher. After watching your missed lift, it looks like you don't have very much leg drive, which means you're coming off your chest with just the shirt, and you don't have momentum to power through your sticking point. I'd suggest working on leg drive a good bit, and obviously doing some high board presses. Working on that arch couldn't hurt either.

    and getting a tighter fitting shirt! you touched so easily. you don't need something ridiculous but it looked like you brought it down in the shirt just as fast as you did raw. nice benching yesterday, you have a hell of a raw bench. duff is right, you could be benching over 4 with some leg drive and a tighter shirt wouldn't hurt either. not something crazy but maybe think about getting your current shirt taken in a little bit, especially if you're gonna be lifting at 220 for a while.

    Thanks for the advice man! I'm still kind of new/learning about all of this. I just started lifting in August. I'll start working on my leg drive and arch

    Honestly I was surprised at how fast the weight came down, and how well it went up. I usually have to struggle with the shirt. My dad made sure it was on as well as we could get it, and it felt way different. Maybe we haven't been getting it on right before, but I don't know lol. My friend that gave me that shirt found a titan that's a bit tighter then the inzer I used in the meet. I'm gonna try it out next Sunday and I'll post how it goes!

    hahah nah, that is a buddy of my dads, hes been like a coach to me I guess. hes a cool guy. my dad was playin spectator, he was the big dude in the leather jacket that came up a few times lol. he didnt lift because he got elbow/knee surgery and hes just now getting back to where he wants to be. he might compete in the next meet whenever thats gonna be. hes back up to 455 raw on bench. his squat is back up to like 405 or something, same with dl.
