    USPF NorCal Open meet report (vids)

    meet report:

    squats:
    1st: 285kg/628-easy, sunk it deep!
    2nd: 300kg/660-also pretty easy, brought the depth up a bit.
    3rd: 320kg/705-grinder. awesome to hit it. so insane.

    <insert 4 hour wait>

    bench
    1st: 217.5kg/479-tried to touch too high, rolled my wrists back and missed the groove, dumped it over my face, good spotters.
    2nd: same weight, smoked it
    3rd: 235kg-hardest bench of my life. touched fine, pressed, stalled grinded it out. many thanks to Marcus for being in my ear the whole lift telling me what I needed to do. I'm sooo happy that I stuck with this lift.

    deadlifts
    1st: 250kg/551-smoked. easy opener
    2nd: 280kg/617-coming up nice, left hand lost grip and dropped it before i could fully lock.
    3rd: 280kg/617-set my grip better, came up was a bit hard to lock but got it.

    great job dude... looks like your training is really paying off...amazing speed off the floor for your deadlift as well...out of curioisity, what are you squatting in? centurion, hardcore?

    Your current numbers are right about my short term (about a year) goals, inspirational
    680/412.5/647.5-1740, raw elite 308 (meet, raw, wraps)
    770/445/660 -all time gym prs @ 355 ish

    Currently: about 240,
    gym prs: 480/330/530....time to get strong!

    Great job. That last squat was a Picasso.... A type of art you have to understand to appreciate. Did Mark Bell lift? The USPF is terrible about posting results. Again GREAT job!

    That was the longest meet ever, it was really fun though. I did bench only at that cause it was my first contest.
    I heard it didn't finish until like 9 or 10 last night? I left right before they started with the deadlifts.

    thanks everyone. It was a long day 80 or so lifters in all divisions, 3 full flights (15 per) and then 7 heavyweights. A flight of bench only and 5 deadlift only added in.

    I think i got to Super Training for the rules briefing around 9:30; started warming up for squats around 12:30ish. Finished squats at 2ish. Benched around 6pm, and deadlifted around 9 or 10.

    Overall a great day, and I'm anxiously awaiting Steve's footage of my benches and the front angles of my squats and deads. The story of the day is not complete without the...battle I had with the bench press.

    I squatted in a size 48 wide stance Centurion, stock off the rack. I'm going to order a Super Centurion though and try to max that out, 700 is a milestone for me but now I want 800.

    thanks Gary. it is amazing to me that after a little over a year in powerlifting and barely two years after my last knee surgery I'm a 700lb squatter.

    but i already want 800.

    Mark Bell did indeed compete, he walked out his squats and got legal depth, his squats looked like warmups...777 as his top squat. though he could've done 50lbs more without blinking. hell he could've squatted 900 as explosive as his squats looked. though walking that out would've been interesting.

    benched 805.5 to beat Sider's bench record and record the biggest bench ever in the USPF. he missed two attempts at 826, it was just as amazing to watch him miss as hit, and doubly so because he did a full meet LAST WEEKEND in the UPA and hit two benches over 800lbs.

    he pulled 722 for a total of 2304 chipping Scott Cartwright for the 308 open total record.

    good for you for competing, how did you do in the benches?

    yeah the deadlifts didn't finish till late. I think I got on the road at 11:40pm.

    good for you for competing, how did you do in the benches?

    yeah the deadlifts didn't finish till late. I think I got on the road at 11:40pm.



    I weighed in at 220 with all my clothes on, but I decided to compete in 242 so I could break this really low state record. It went pretty well!

    opened with 303 raw, it went a little shakey at the pause, but I got it.
    put on the shirt and hit 336, easy.
    third attempt at 358 went easy.
    went for a fourth at 369 and got suprised when it went up (I've never even successfully lifted over 335 before without boards). I lost concentration and it came down rofl.

    I'm gonna post some vids later, maybe.

    I talked to a guy I went with today, he said I won two trophies. I dont remember what for though lol, I'll find out later.


    my friend will did bench only too, he broke an american record for the 120s or somethin like that, it was badass.

    san jose meet has been canceled/postponed due to no venue.

    definitely going to the louie seminar now.

    you were doing almost 700 pounds a l;ong time ago raw do the blue bands help that much? anyway congrats 700 is strong on squat im guessing thats equipped cause your dl is so low

    I wasn't aware a 600 lb deadlift could be considered "low". You can probably pull 600 easy after having 700 lbs on ur back and 500 in ur hands and getting whites for those huh?
