I tell it like it is, if you want smoke blown up your ass or something sugar coated. I suggest you get a Hooker and a powdered donut.

So... that's why the ladder was out. My wife used it to tether our Christmas Tree to the ceiling with fishing line. (Otherwise, the cats might knock it down. When they were young cats, they loved climbing Christmas Trees and managed to topple one over one time. Now that they're middle-aged cats, it hasn't - so far - been as much of a problem.)▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

Yes.
We have five cats and one of them will only eat dry food. Tiger and Callisto would pig out on any dry food available. We recently bought one of those feeders which has a cover that opens when activated via a selected RFID chip or tag. So, now... no more dry food for Tiger or Callisto. We're hoping that they'll both lose weight, but so far we haven't seen much change. We may need to get additional feeders so that we can control the portion size of the wet food that each cat gets. (But, what a hassle...)▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

Oh nice!!! We have 2 cats and one of those continuous feeders where they can go and eat whenever they want. One of the cats can self regulate and is normal weight, the other is an obese little phukuer. Their yearly vet appt is coming up and I am pretty sure she's going to yell at us.
I really like the idea of the chip activated feeder.

Here's a link to the one we bought:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O0UIPTY/
It's kind of pricey, but seems a lot more affordable when compared to the price of a vet visit (which presumably would go up in frequency with the health complications that result from having a fat cat).
The lid seals tight when closed, keeping moisture in and pests (like flies) out. The bowl/tray is removable for cleaning; it also comes with some spare trays so that one can be cleaned while another is in use. Since we're using dry food in the one we have, this hasn't been much of a problem, but could be if wet food were used.
There is a training mode in which the hinged lid closes by perhaps only half an inch to start off with. Over a period of days, a press of the training button causes the lid to close a bit more. This way, a shy cat can get adjusted to the lid moving further and further closed over a period of time. It worked well; the cat that we're using it with is very shy, but she got adjusted to it within a week's time.
We're happy with it so far...▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

I will have to be sure and keep tracking this thread now. We started out with one cat couple years ago. My wife hates cats but this half grown kitten was hanging around the house so I fed it a few times as I wasn't sure if it had a home. Wife says why am I feeding it....lol. Next thing I know she is feeding it.....she hate cats remember. Starts getting cooler out. "Maybe we should leave the garage door open a little so it can get in out of the cold" (this is where I roll my eyes....shes a cat hater). Gets colder.....like 30 degrees. She now has taken our heating pad out there. Remember.....she hates cats. Early spring comes around and something dashes out from under my workbench to the far side of the garage where we store stuff. I soon discover a litter of kittens. FML! "Oh look at how cute they are!!!" Dear God! Ok we start to look for homes for them as soon as they get big enough....not much luck yet and bam...another batch. To make a long story short.....we at one time had 22 this past early spring. Caught a few and had them fixed. Gave a few away, took some to a friends farm for barn cats, current count down to 12 I think lol. Had a couple more litters in between all of it. Count went up and down.....lol. Most current ones except for maybe 3 are tame enough to handle so they are catchable to be fixed soon. My wife actually had a very difficult time letting the kittens go. She went from 0-60 from hating on cats to now having 2 indoor cats and the rest outside. I call her the crazy neighborhood cat lady now..... Anyone need a cat? Please? Anyone.....Buehler....Buehler.....

Going to start posting my cat stories ITT instead of the random comments thread. No one appreciates them.
Love the self feeder idea, not a single cat of mine would ever use them though. Lot of self control on their behalf and tend to eat on a set schedule even if food is out for them. Think it has to do with the size of the household and routine we all have. Literally have to pick the dish up shake it if it's dry food and put it back down so they will eat.Ndtha ton eda yi'mg oIng tofi
