Lately I have been having trouble getting a comfortable form doing DL's. I don't know why, just all of the sudden. Watching this stuff made me realize mistakes I was starting to make since I so used to doing them/not thinking about it as much. Glad this thread is a sticky, good to watch every so often if form starts to be compromised.

Poor Flexibility in Hips and Ankles?
I am trying to get my form down for the deadlift. However, I cannot complete a proper deadlift because I believe my ankles and hips give out. It has nothing to do with the weight, I tried a deadlift, just with the bar. I have poor flexibility in hips and ankles I believe. Any tips? I really want to get over this barrier.

What's the best way to ramp up to a max working set
I've been trying to get to 6x405... I got to 6x385, switched gyms and now I'm at ~4-5x385
I do very little of a warm up... 8x225, then the big set, and then 2 little volume sets after (2x6x335)
How should I warm up?
I am thinking:
6x135
6x225
3x315
1x335
Then the big set (hopefully 6x385 this week)
Prob will do away w/one of the volume sets after
What do you think?Intensity, Recovery, Nutrition, Sleep- the only things that matter.

Pretty much the territory.
You don't need to fillet your shins, but the bar should remain in contact with your legs thorughout the lift.
If you need, you can try to find older/more worn bars in your gym to save your shins.
Also, tube socks & workout pants work wonders.-

I'm confused about the proper way to get the bar off the ground. What I've been doing is pulling the bar up and back while driving through my heels. Am I supposed to pull the bar back against my shins like that? It really scrapes my shins but helps me get the weight off the ground.

After being off work with lower back pain(Herniated Disc) for 3 months & constant pain for over 6. My back is finally pain free & I really want to start deadlifts but I cannot afford to be off work again.
Should I just avoid them, One of my gym instructors recommended them to strengthen my back but I would like to hear what you think.

Can't tell you how good it is to have this thread up, I've learned this from my coach, and for those who are starting out lifting, use these guides and learn them, technique is the Key, if you don't lift right, you can and more likely will, get injured and that can put you out of training for a long time, even permanent.
Great thread."When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me' "

Hey guys.. I'm new to lifting, and very new to DLs. I've only been doing them less than a month now, and I don't have anyone experienced around me to help me out. I was wondering if someone would look over a vid I took? I posted it in my log, but I'll post the link to the post here:

I feel like my form might be off, and I'd hate to inflict injury on myself. Thanks in advanced!IIFYM - not even once.
