I gues I am fortunate enough to live on a block where everyone is near the same age and gets along pretty well. But as I get older, I look at my friends and neigbors and think to myself "What a boring, ****ty, pathetic life some people lead". Take my next door neigbor for example, he wakes up in the morning, gets ready, goes to work, eats like absolutely **** all day, comes home, sits his fat ass and watches TV, drinks beer, and goes to sleep. No hobbies, not interested in anything but drinking beer and looking like ****. All of these people with no hobbies, and no interests in life with the exception of watching the bears game on sunday, smoking, and drinking. Sorry for the rant but these people are starting to annoy me. i guess when people like you and me are interested in something that almost consumes every aspect of your life, eating, sleeping, training, diet construction prep, diet construction off season, posing routines, routine music, etc.. you just see everyone else as boring.

I dont mean this as nasty as it sounds, but who are you to judge? If that is what they like to do with their life then so be it. You dont know that they are unhappy. Not everyone has to have a six pack or rep 225 lbs on the bench. During that time after work they may be spending time with their wife or kids and thats their hobby and enjoyment.
Most of what I do my friends think is boring. I eat strict most of the day, only drink occasionally, I go to the gym four nights a week rush home to make a quality post workout meal and never go out during the week. To them thats boring.Scivation Sponsored Athlete: http://scivation.com/teamscivation/jasontheobald.htm

As long as they don't bitch about it i'm fine with it.
I only get pissed about ppl doing nothing with themselves when they bitch about doing nothing or the positions they put themselves in.
Otherwise it's whatever gets ya kicks. Believe me they're probably saying the same things about us and being over concerned about our diet, obsessive compulsiveness, and inferiority complexes that drive us to bodybuilding.
They have little understanding of our worlds so they lash out at us. Likely same case different side of the fence here. As long as they're happy, they're happy right?Blog:

In All fairness, I do understand 3 jim 3's point. He may not be as tactfull as we would want him to be, (tolerance) but I see the point. It is a little disturbing when you see a rather obese person scarfing down three chili cheese dogs followed by an xtra large Dairy Queen Butterfinger Blizzard and a couple of Coca Colas. Then complain because the seats are too small or it's just too exhausting to shower before the go to sleep. I to get a bit prejudice to but I understand I decided to choose a lifestyle they dont share with me either. Thats why I think we need to set "Good Examples". It's these examples that sometimes allow them to see the light and decide to make a change. Who knows, maybe some of us reading this were that morbidly obese person that saw the light and decided to make a change,..

Mmmmmm.......that was my lunch yesterday. He he he. (J/K!)
I definately agree that there is a problem with obesity. No doubt. And obese people do effect the daily life of "healthy" people to some degree, but no more than people who choose to smoke, drink, etc. If you want to be fat and sit around all day, fine....thats your choice as an American. Just dont blame it on McDonalds or ask for special treatment because youre fat. Thats where the line needs to be drawn.
On the other hand, I dont think bodybuilders are necessarily a "good" example for living. Really, we do not achieve a good balance of health and a normal lifestyle. We are a bit obsessive compulsive.....you have to be in order to achieve the results we look for. We spend ridiculous amounts of time concentrating on diet and training. Thats not "normal". Its a hobby. And its an extreme hobby at that. If people took a small piece of what we do and incorporate it into their lives, that would make for a healthier society."Who the Son sets free is free indeed....."

I agree with you to an extent Oak. During Contest prep we go beyond what an average person would want to achieve, which is about half a year,..haha, but the other half, we are just living clean and watching what we take in and how we train. so maybe atleast half the year we can set an example for healthy living

Yea....true. I guess things lax up a bit when not in prep mode. But, again.....the average person doesnt need to be doing squats until the puke or training arms until the pump is so ridiculous that your skin feels like its gonna split. Its just extreme. And it could be argued that the "extreme" nature of our training taxes our bodies to a degree that COULD lead to problems later on. Obviously, I think that the health benefits outweigh these possibilities for me.....but the arguement could be made.

Jeez, I think some people got the wrong idea with this. I was talking about people I know, grew up with, live around. Im not saying that if you dont live the BB lifestyle ur wrong, by all means if you like to collect stamps then do it. I was talking about people I KNOW who do nothing, have no hobbies or interests but drinkink beer EVERY DAY and when Im going to the gym or off to do a cardio session ask why and assume that I should be just like them and I am wasting my own time.
