Since May, I have been adding protein powder to my oatmeal for added protein. Latley the scale has stopped moving so I decided to reduce my calories a little bit thinking maybe the scale would budge. I stopped putting the protein powder in my oatmeal. I figured I wouldn't miss these calories because it is not "real food." Thoughts? How important is the extra protein in my oatmeal vs. trying to find ways in my day to reduce calories?
Just to give you a glimpse of my morning:
8 a.m. 3 egg whites and dry Ezekial toast
10:30 a.m. oatmeal w/ground flaxseed
1:30 a.m. grilled chicken on salad w/beans and rice
Thanks!
Lisa

Please tell me that you eat more after 1:30 and that you just decided to leave off the rest of your diet? If not, that could be the reason the scale has stopped moving - your body is storing everything it gets because you're not eating nearly enough.
Aside from that, I always try to have a carb and a protein with every meal/snack. So your breakfast and lunch sound great, but I would try to have some protein with your oatmeal - even if you don't want to use powder.Hi, my name is Ellen, and I'm a peanut butter addict...
I do this because I can. I can because I want to. I want to because you said I couldn't.

Oh my gosh - you guys are too funny. Of course I eat tons of food after 1:30 p.m. I just wanted to give you an idea of how my day starts off. I eat plenty of protein during the day, so I am not eating the protein powder for the added protein in my day. I was putting it in my oatmeal because I keep hearing you should have proteins with carbs. I just don't want the added calories if I can help it.
I eat about 115 grams of protein a day. I am 38 years old and I am only 4'11" so at 112 pounds, 115 grams of protein is probably right. I feel like if I was a little taller, the few extra calories wouldn't matter but at only 4'11" I think it makes a big difference.
