how much protein can the body ingest in one sitting?

basically what it says.....I weigh a good 230ish lbs at 6ft 7 and i'm trying to add some bulk....even at six meals a day...it is hard pressed to get more then 40 a pop and I know I need more then that...

how much can I actually consume in one sitting without it just being a waste?

Honestly 40 to 60 is probably enough, I am sure somone has a science article on this but I do not. I would be asking myself if I was you if I am getting adequate fats, the fats push the protein into the muscle. Are muscles are made of proteins and fats.

You've never eaten a whole chicken breast without having stomach pains or feeling bloated?

To back up what inthecity said....

    No one knows how much
thats one reason why scientists recommend 5-6 meals
because the amount of protein absorbed may be low
then again it may be high...who knows

I don't know the answer to your question, but 240g is probably enough for you.

It really depends on the type of protein consumed, and how bioavaliable it is. My main source of protein is hemp.

well I apologize about not seeing that post...

i've done some reading in here and other forums and most guys are doing more then just 1gram per lb of bodyweight to get what they desire...if I were to do 1.5 per lb..i'd be at 345 grams per day....wtf lol....

I just don't wanna waste the protein that i'm ingesting...

i've been known to be able to sit at a meal and just goto work til i'm "full"...I know my diet isn't the best or thought out the best, just trying to map it out for my weight and height and see where it takes me

on that same note, I work out about 1hr to 1.5hr a day...usually about 5-6 days out of the week, depending on how my body feels...

I don't want to just eat and eat, healthy or not healthy and it be wasted or be unhealthy for that matter....which is the reason for asking...

I put down about 300 grams or maybe a touch more from what I added up on paper and the research I did on what I ate ect....and I felt fine....didn't seem like I was adding too much calorie or too bloated....spaced it out from 2-3 hr intervals til I went to bed..

most of my protein is coming from a protein shake tho....

if that helps or puts things in perspective at all....

I dunno, i'm new to the whole body building/healthy thing
