This is a stupid thread. If you compare Ronnie to anybody of course he is going to win, considering he is the greatest of all time and that year, nobody expected what they saw.

well there are a number of factors is ronnie the only mass monster on the stage? are we going by the 03 judging or the 08 judging? I would have to give it to ronnie but I think a more interesting comparison would be who would win 98 ronnie or 08 dex (with it being both of their first Mr.O olympia wins)

I'm saying in 03, he was great. Only weakness is stomach, but everything else is so good, it doesn't matter. In other shows, however, that gut was out of control and he still won, which is what the poster was saying.Originally Posted by CallMeGod

Ronnie would win hands down.
If 03 Ronnie was still competing in 09, he would still be a Mr. Olympia. 11 time Mr. Olympia by now.
Is the sport going backward because of this statement?
No. Ronnie was a freak of nature. He still is a threat to anybody in any contest. But just because we don't have a dominant champ anymore yet, does not mean it's going backwards. It's free for all right now. And that creates another interesting things to see.
Although I have to say, late 90s-early 00s feel like the 2nd golden age of bodybuilding that will never be repeated again. With Flex, Levrone, Ronnie, Rhul, Jay, Dex, Ray, Burke, Vince Taylor, and so many more greats competed at the same time.

I was routing for Jay in '03. If I remember correctly, Ronnie posed right after Jay. When I saw Jay, I thought he looked great and was gonna give Ronnie a run for his money. When Ronnie came out, I was immediately disheartened.
In my mind, Ronnie's '03 physique is the closest thing to absolute perfection in bodybuilding. I can't believe anyone will surpass that. At some point in the future, someone may look arguably as good, but I can't believe anybody will look any better.Quick to judge,
