Should I use exercise ball as my office chair?

I heard from a not-so-scientific source that using exercise ball as office chair will work out your abs just by sitting. I have a bad habit of slouching on my chair..

I'd go for a standing desk before I'd ever consider a ball. Standing is natures way of keeping your core stable and strong. Sitting weakens your core.

If you slouch on a chair that has a back, then you're going to slouch on a ball. Fix your postural issues first before you go creating a whole bunch of new problems.

The best advice I give to my desk bound brethren is to get up often and walk around or go to the stairwell and do a little stair climbing. And of course "SIT UP STRAIGHT". Shoulder blades together and down...always.

At the gym don't go sitting yet again (bikes, benches etc). At least do your workouts standing. And do 2 times the rowing (back) as you do pushing (chest).

I don't know about all that, but I just read on this website that sittng in a chair all day weekens your core. I mean actually make your stomach muscle weaker. I am standing the rest of the day

No. It is extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. Most individuals require back support.
Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

    No brain, no gain.

You shouldnt replace a chair with a swiss ball. But you can use a swiss ball for 20-30minutes every 3 hours.

Sitting on a swiss ball activates your inner and global core units. Back support is still necessary, hence the short amount of time that it can be used.

This combines both stability ball and back support

A better option is the ergonomic kneeling chair (as pictured below)

The human body isnt made to sit with 90 degree angles at the ankles, knees and hips. But thats how we sit in chairs, because thats how chairs are made.

I've done this before, and while it's true you can slouch on a ball just as easy, the fact your sitting on an exercise ball at all sort of "reminds" you to sit up straight.

It does work your abs a little I think. I sat on one all day once and my abs were super sore the next day.

One advantage is you definitely can't lean back on them, although you can still lean forward.
-You have to do what others won't to achieve what others don't.

-There are no reps; only failure

Best thing to do is just get up every 30-45mins. I've used a Swiss ball to sit on and IMO there's no more balance needed then sitting on a chair (well not anything significant) due to the fact both you feet touch the floor and you're basically in a tripod position.

I did that for about a year and liked it. Problem was that I continually need access to documentation and literature that sits on my bookshelf, directly behind me. On a chair I can simply rotate it and slide, on the ball I had to get up every time which sucked. It was good for my posture and core though, no doubt
