    Best Tricep exercises for strength?

    I am currently doing

    Tricep pushdowns - 3 x 6
    Close Grip BP - 3 x 8

I'm powerbuilding. Maybe i should buy a dip tower? I'm working out in my basement.

    Thoughts?

So this is basically a close grip bench press without the full movement down to the chest?

actually in that pic it doesnt look like he is doing jm presses to me, looks just like close grip bench.

Its like close grip bench, except both your hands face you, instead of facing away from you. And done with a bit wider grip then close grip bench.

    Oh, ok.

So your PALMS are facing you? More like an underhand grip?

So you're underhand grip, a bit wider than a close grip BP and you don't bring it all the way down to your chest?

there a few different versions of JM's, none of them have a reverse grip that i've seen.

    they're a cross between a narrow & skull crusher.

the floorpress can be done with db's but a barbell is better.

Well i see the floor and board presses jsut limit the press exercise to the tricep portion of the movement. I think i'll just give them a try and see which one i'm more comfortable with.

If someone knows a good link to the JM Presses or can describe them well please do. We're getting mixed ideas here.

JM press- hand are a little wider than close grip. (about 12 inches apart).
Bring the bar down to about 6 inches from the colar bone area.

Yes, or close to it. If you are unflexible, one maybe should even stop higher than 6 inches above the collar bone. Could tear up your shoulders trying to force it down that low.

    simple but EFFECTIVE!

you can use standard and narrow grips.

2/3/4 boards depending on your sticking point on bench.

weighted dips are great for hypertrophy, but the can be hard on your rotators.....and don't help your bench.

well..it could happen...however for triceps you don't need to do a deep dip ..and keep your elbows near your hips, with the body straight

another good exercise for overloading triceps is half strict presses in the power rack...it's by Charles Poliquin
however i think that dip and close grip bp are the best for this goal

if your trying to UP your bench it best to to tri movements that are close to the same plane as the bench movement.

    closegrips
    jm's
    floors
    boards
