While I may not be as hot as MarvVI, and I don't like veggies as much as Eileen, I consider myself to be one of the more active reputable sources for ketogenic information.

I have actually lost more than that, in total, but 150lb of which was while on one or another form of ketogenic diet. I have been on this journey for 3 years as of September 21st, to be exact. Keep in mind, though, that during this time I have also put on considerable muscle mass as well. In addition, throughout my journey I have also competed in various triathlons/road races/cycling races. Good question!

Respect to you sir, youve done extremely well.
Another question is, have you done any bloodwork recently? If so, may I ask what the results are? I know that proper and maintained exercises coupled with this diet yields to better than average stats, but im always curious to know how it affects each person.

Haha, nice hypothetical question. Even using a microwave it is possible to still make use of eggs and other precooked meats. I would focus on precooked portions of fatty meats that could simply be reheated. While it is not financially optimal this can be achieved by contacting a local restaurant (most likely a buffet) and seeing if they would sell you these in bulk. Not being able to cook is going to make things much harder, but not impossible.
Try to find microwavable chicken (Tyson brand) and add your fats in yourself in the form of oils/peanut butter/nuts. You can also eat eggs, microwavable bacon, hot dogs (aim for a kosher brand here due to less nitrate content). Also, pork rinds for the win!
Also, why only eating 1800 cals?
I have not done bloodwork recently as I have been waiting until I hit my weight goal to have full blood panels done. I can, however, tell you that both my blood pressure, fasting blood sugar levels, and resting heart rate have went down dramatically since beginning my journey. I was borderline diabetic and technically needed to be on blood pressure meds, and now I'm on the low side of average for both issues.

You currently way around 232 pounds, what was the date when you last weighed 252~ pounds?
-On average per week, how often do you do cardio and WHAT TYPE.
Also, do you fast?
I haven't done keto for a long time but the first time I did it I lost about 10 pounds on the first week or two, so far I've lost maybe 2 lbs max, or even gained 2 lbs depending on what scale I use.
EDIT- WOW, 20lbs in one month?
I just looked at your historical values on your weight and noticed you were 249 on august 15th.
Now that I now that, can you answer everything else?Last edited by Jxstatic; 09-11-2008 at 05:33 PM.

I try to do at least half hour of medium-intensity cardio following weights, and then I also cycle quite a bit recreationally and play tennis weekly as well. I will soon be doing fasted cardio in the morning again, I've just been lazy lately.
I never fast, I find no real benefit in it, at all.
And yes, 20lbs in one month. That's what happens when I dial in the diet, count calories, and up the cardio. And another thing to consider is that I set continual PRs during that month as well. Strength goes up on a cut? I must be doing something right.

haha ya!
I've been stronger that ever in weights class lately but I think it's all about using my mind to harness my strength/endurance potential.
I hit 315 which is my max during a pyramid workout and I stayed really strong through the workout. Also my other lifts just never got had fatigued.
About the cardio, you say you try to get 30mins+ M.I. cardio after you lift. Do you lift every day?
Have you lost the most recent 20 lbs by simply controlling your diet and jogging after your workouts?
+How many calories under maintenance are you currently taking in?
Are they macro's out to 65/30/5?giving up wont speed it up

Congrats on the fat loss so far! I actually stick to a pretty strict 65/30/5 breakdown and my calories may vary slightly depending on what type of day that is.
I feel that once you are fat adapted you can tend to get away with more carbs, however I do not feel that they are necessary per say. Plus for me it is easy to run near the line of 'too many carbs'.
I lift four days per week based on a back/chest/legs/arms format. I also put in more cardio on the off days as I am a fan of active, not passive, recovery.
As I said above, I run right at 65/30/5 macros and my calories run around 3000 depending on the day. I try to give myself a bit more calories on weight lifting days.
After two full weeks, carbup. However, please try and keep it clean. For good foods for a carbup.. brown rice/oats/whole wheat pasta/low sugar low fat cereal/whole wheat bread/skim milk/lots of veggies.
In regards to stuff to make stuff taste better, check out the Keto Recipe subforum as they have a lot of good ones in there. I personally feel that ANY food can be made into a keto food with enough thought put into it.
I run pretty much at maintenance based on 15 x Lean Body Mass and allow most of my deficit to be made up by activity.

Most colleges don't allow for electric skillets or crock pots. It is really the one downfall of college dieting.
My diet, however, is a slight modification between a CKD and the CHA (carb haters anonymous) diets, and here is what I ate yesterday:
Meal 1 -
6 Whole DHA eggs, 2oz Hard Cheese, 1 TBSP Salsa or 1 TBSP Sour Cream
----- Low Carb Omlette
Meal 2 -
8oz Ground Chuck (85/15 Hamburger), 2oz Shredded Hard Cheese, 1 TBSP Taco Sauce, 1oz Pork Rinds --- Low Carb Nachos
Meal 3 -
8 oz Lean Meat (Fish or Chicken), 36 Almonds
--- This is where I switch up the fat sources to ensure that I am getting a wide variety of fats.
Post-Workout Meal -
3 Scoops Controlled Labs Golden Finish
--- You can just use 40g protein/20g dextrose here.
Meal 4 -
6 oz Salmon, 2 TBSP Natty Peanut Butter
Meal 5 -
1 egg, 2oz Pork Rinds, 1/4 Cup Pizza Sauce, 2oz Shredded Mozzerella, 15 Pepperoni
---- Low Carb Pizza Recipe
I do not list my veggies content because I have some form of fibrous green veggies at EVERY meal. I feel that continual ruf***e eating is the key to success.

I try and stick to a strict 65/30/5 macro ratio as much as possible. I feel that my best gains (and losses) have been made in the kitchen. The majority of my carbs come in post-workout from my post-workout shake. Aside from that I stick with minor carbs from eggs/hard cheeses/full fat dressings. With that said, my carbs never really run above 30g. I can typically get up to around 60g a day with no problem, but I don't like toe'ing the line.

I don't know if you want to take a look at my log in the Keto Log section. But, I'm also new when it comes to keto and have just started the log. Within it I include all of my daily food for each meal and the macros that comes along with each meal as the day goes on. Might be a help to you? My carbs have been running around the 40g mark the past two days. I'm trying to get them lower today. Hope it helps.

While I'm perusing your log I am wondering if you are subtracting your fiber from your carb count? I see a lot of almonds and natty pb which can be deceiving in overall carb count. You want Total Carbs - Fiber = Carbs you count towards daily total.
Also, why on earth are you using lean turkey burger? FAT BABY.. ground chuck.. 90/10.. sirloins...

I met her last year in Anchorage on a tour.....SHE'S BEAUTIFUl!
and incredibly charming...
I think she was a great choice too -- I may not be 100% with the Republican ticket/plans for the future.....but this election once again is the lesser of two evils and I would not elect Barrack Obama even at gun point....www.xccellence.com

I'm not American and not well versed on US politics so I can't really comment on the VP choices or even the candidates themselves but your "lesser of two evils" comment reminds me of something an American friend of mine said. She described this election as being like walking into a public restroom and having to choose the least disgusting stall

Haha, I didn't realize you lost that much, but I'm still cooler than you.
I agree, I am a democrat but I am voting Republican this year
No, but I am a fan!
That is pretty much it! For me it comes down to electing someone who is likely to not change much versus someone who is going to negatively change the things important to me!
Thanks WGL!
