    does overhead press hit upper chest

    hi guys, dips hit lower pecs as well as triceps etc, so i was wondering over head press for exapmle military press, would it hit the upper head of the pecs?
    Body Weight 11 stone

    Dead Lift 190kg

    Standing Military Press 70kg

    It hits the very upper fibers of the upper pecs.

    But it is not a chest exercise unless you use the worst lean-back ever.

    You hit more of the upper pecs, when you have an arch in your lower back.

    Excellent point.

    As papi noted as well, depending on your back arch, this affects the degree of which the upper pecs are involved with the movement.

    I think your form makes a difference: if your arms are directly to the sides, it might hit your upper pecs a little less than if the angle of your arms was a little more foreward. However, if you don't have a lot of arch, I don't think it will make much of a difference in a good routine.
