    generators

I bought a new Briggs & Stratton generator for tailgating. It puts out 82 decibels. Does anyone think this is too loud?

OSHA max db for continuos exposure without hearing protection is 85db.

If you place it towards the front of your vehicle it should be fine and if you are at a game with hundereds of people around the noise of the generator will be lost in the crowd, just don't set it right next to you.

Yes get a honda they are very quiet and you can put them under a home made sound box so to speak and with music not hear them at all.

It is 3500 watts. It has a low tone muffler but it still puts out 82 db. I should have got the Honda but it is too late now. How would you go about building a sound box? Where we tailgate people play their music pretty loud so maybe it will go unnoticed.

The size of your generator plus 6 inchs all around. Plywood then 2 inch foam insolation with vents on 2 sides large then exhast through the back. It should be set on rubber as well.

Wonder if it would fit. I may try it as is this weekend and if anyone says anything I will just shut it off. The next home game is in 3 weeks so I think I can build a box by then.

I have a Honda motor on mine, but it's for hurricanes and other things that happen in L.A. (Lower Alabama)! It's a 6500 and not loud compared to others I have heard. Have fun at the football games!!!

As I see 2 hurricanes approaching this is a subject I have been thinking of. Just concerned about heat and venting. I have a 8500 and it is loud.

The box works very well you can go with thicker foam and put the generator in your garage and a pipe the the outside that hooks to the exhaust. this works very well.
