You are not gaining muscle, but I can't tell why you're not losing fat with this info alone. We would need your diet (honestly).

All I can say is, keep running. It will come off. If you haven't lost weight in 3 weeks and you're running like you say, you're doing something very wrong with your diet.

The weight scale doesn't matter, you have to take measurements and look at yourself in the mirror to see a difference. I've gone down like 3.5'' in my waist and my weight barely changed because I've gained muscle at the same time.

there is a huge difference between running and jogging... if you feel comfortable during your run/jog you're not doing it right.

I think it's fine to feel comfortable during a jog or a run. It's not HIIT. If you're in good shape, your run should not be that uncomfortable, but a solid, enjoyable workout,

If you are getting lean but not losing weight you are obviously gaining muscle. To all the people above who say you aren't: He may be going from untrained to running 21 minutes a day or he may even be training on an incline which would in fact add to AT LEAST type I muscle fiber hypertrophy.

It also depends on if he is weight training at the same time. To the OP though, if you only care about losing weight and not pure fat, just run longer and eat less. Calculate your daily caloric needs and take away 200-500 cals a day.

IMO it's good to lose fat and not weight, I want to.

My thoughts would be to change up to something in between a steady, 45-minute jog (which studies show HINDERS muscle gain...according to Men's Fitness) and going with a 30-minute workout of interval training. It doesn't exactly have to be as intense as HIIT, but even adding SOME intervals into your run should kick start something.
Keep on searching--you'll find someone who cares eventually.

    Maybe.

Your calories are probably too high. Even if you're diets clean if at the end of the day you're still at maintainence it wont matter.

You CAN gain muscle at the same time you lose weight. If you're not losing weight but losing fat then maybe you're just showing water weight.

Continue this way and see if you keep losing fat and adjust accordingly.

I run 3-6 miles about 4 times a week. You should feel comfortable running unless you are training to get faster. This sint the case for this guy since hes running so long. You should be able to hold a steady conversation while running or be able to take one breathe per every 4 strides.

Anyhow, to me it sounds like your diet isnt right post up some details. With running for 45 minutes you should be burning around 400-600+ calories depending on your weight/speed. Running makes you have a huge appetite so make sure you arent completely giving in to it since you are trying to burn fat. Lots of protein, veggies, lean meat, water, and carbs are a must of course. If it has been 21 days you should have lots a few pounds at least by now. Work in weightlifting if you havent already. you will see quicker fat loss that way.

When I started out, I jogged two miles a day and weighed 256 pounds. At the end of a year, I had only lost 27 pounds. Of course, that was with no changes to my diet.
If I can do it, anyone can!

Ok, your metabolism is asleep. This is without question the worst diet I have ever seen posted on here. This equals what? 700 calories a day? Wow, you are in starvation mode and your body is holding onto every pound. You will never lose weight on a diet like that.

I would not even know where to begin to train a vegetarian. I do, however, know that the amount of calories you are consuming daily isn't even enough for bodily function. How you don't feel like $hit all the time is beyond me.

No, I cannot. I do not believe in vegetarianism, nor do I think it is conducive to muscle growth. This is a bodybuilding site. I do suggest you go to amazon and find a good vegetarian cookbook that emphasizes weight loss.

FYI:-I ain't lifting weights .I just run for 45 mins everyday

I am a vegan by choice

    My diet is as follows:-

    6:30 am - 3 glasses of water

6.45am - one glass of milk+ 2 low cal cookies

    8.45am - Brown(whole wheat) bread sandwich( 3 slices)

    11:30am - 1 cup of tea

    1:45 pm - Salad+ protein shake + 1 cup of rice

5 pm - one glass of milk

    8 pm - a veg sandwich

    10 pm - protein shake + Museli
Your meal 1, 3 and 5 are not meals lol. Water should be consumed throughout the day. So these technically are not meals

You need to sort your diet out. I fell into the same trap as you i was running for a long time and eating a crappy diet. In the end i wasnt losing weight.

Diet is key. Diet is at least 70% of weight loss

Since no one wants to give advice I will give some abeit very simple. Eat more of what you are eating first of all. Eat your proteins (nuts, beans, protein powders) right after your workouts and eat a LOT of it. Mix a some high GI carbs with it too, maybe some orange juice.

Eat your low GI carbs from morning to about 4 hours before bed time, no later. Fruit is a good low GI food for example.

Eat in about 3 hour increments. Don't skip meals. When you don't eat, your body stops burning calories. Just keep the portions smaller for your "snack" meals, abd larger earlier in the day.

Have some slow digesting protein before bed (power, cottage cheese, soy milk?)

Oh, and weight train. I don't care how you start, just do it. Nothing burns calories like extra muscle mass!

And finally. Take multi vitamins religiously. Vegans are very prone to bone mineral disorders, anemia, neurological disorders ect.

Oh yeah, drink water with your meals, its not a meal and shouldnt be treated as such.
    GL!

its probably just water weight. if u are losing inches but no weight its more likely your body is just storing water because you are a runner and will need it. another way the scale can lie. if u look and feel better, keep it up. the scale will change eventually, but keep running, you'll feel better and live longer!

oh yeah i noticed that whole 700 cal diet thing. since u are running your body is also preparing itself for that. like someone said b4, eatting that little is making your body try to hold onto all those cals so u have fuel for those runs. your metabolism probably has slowed down. figure out what your maintenance cals are, and just eat at slighty less than that.
The human body is crazy and will do all sorts of weird things to adapt to w/e u throw at it.
