True...
Last year it wasn't the coverage of the Corners and safeties that was killing the pass defense... It was the fact that our Zero pass rush gave the opposing QB all day to just wait for someone to come open.
It's amazing what happens to QB's when they get just a little pressure, and can't throw and play how they want.
****
As for T-Jax... All he has to do is play like Trent Dilfer did for the Ravens back in 2001... He just has to manage not to lose the game...
We don't need him to win it...
Just don't lose it!6'4"

Back in the John Randle Viking days, Favre used to have nightmare performances in the Metro Dome. The pass rush he provided would force Favre into interceptions or fumbles. The last couple of years, there has been no pass rush and Favre has carved up the Vikings secondary like a Thanksgiving turkey in Minnesota. Look at how the Giants pass rush made the weak corners look like elite lockdown cornerbacks. It makes a world of difference. Allen will be seeing a lot of double and even triple teams on passing situations. Someone else will need to step up when this happens.

Back when I played D-line (And after my knee injury I became the DC) there was always this tragic irony...
One season, the D-Line would be just a friggin' Run stopping Juggernaut... But the pass rush would suffer... So we'd refocus on that, and sack the hell out of the QB, but then give up gashing horrendous runs... And the DB's would suck at tackling having had such a cushy time the year before.
Hard to get a good balance of each.
If I had to choose though... Everytime I'd choose have a leathal pass rush over a run stopping D every time...
A lot more Opportunistic things happen from a strong pass rush! (Fumbles/Picks/Safeties/Mind funk on the O-Line.)6'4"

trying to balance the pass rush with run defense has a ton to do with scheme and your LBs as well. If the LBs aren't covering holes created by edge rushers and DLs shooting gaps, then the run defense is going to suck, especially if the DL is overpursuing.
and yes, Randle + Doleman was stupid.
what's even stupiderer is if Millard could've stayed healthy. Pure insanity. PURE insanity. That could've been the best pass-rushing DL in NFL history with room to spare.

If anything it will be good for the kid in the long run... He proved with the concussion last season that he's willing to learn how to protect his health... This just made him aware "Hey I really can get friggin' jacked up and hurt my teams when I take off, instead of complete my pass progression."
