Hey all .. nice to see this thread! I just started competing last year and would have competed next year had I not gotten deployed(HOOAH!), but oh well. I have lots of time to build right now so I can't complain. Competed in two shows last year (figure) and didn't place in either *sigh*. I'm not bitter though
I learned a lot. Watch for me next year *grin* I'm thinking about crossing over to bodybuilding. I've put on a lot of muscle since last go around.
2007 shows: Branch Warren, John Sherman both in Houston area (God I miss home!)
5'4" 120 contest, currently 155 (and cutting)"The quality of a persons life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor."

Oct 2002: NPC West Virginia State Championships - Placing: 5
Off season Wt. 200
Contest Wt. 174 Middleweight
These were my last shows due to losing a kidney. I took 2 years off to try and gain some size to move up to light-heavy weight. In 2004 my right kidney had to be removed. I lost 40 lbs but I'm back up to 195 and hope to maybe do another show in the spring of 09.Never give up.

I know what you mean about political...
I lost to this kid. He was bigger, but I came in WAY more ripped and to put it bluntly, I had both my legs. He was, however, a local kid and had a great sob story about how he nearly lost his foot. Still, you know the judges weren't paying any attention to symmetry.
