How come we never dropped an atomic bomb on Hanoi during the Vietnam War? I think we should have at least considered doing so. At the very least we should have firebombed that city. We could have killed that evil bastard Ho Chi Minh and his communist minions (Vietcong, NVA) would have panicked and been easy pickings.
Because of our wimpy conduct during the war up to 3 million of our South Vietnemese allies perished under the repressive communist North Vietnemese.
We beat Japan by destroying their infrastructure. We should have done the same to North Vietnam.

Why didn't we use the A-bomb on Hanoi?

edit: and it kind of defeats the purpose liberating a country. It's always best to keep strategic bombing (bombings targeted towards industry and infrastructure) to a minimum because you decimate the countries wealth in the process. If you're trying to reclaim/annex/liberate territory, you're going to inherit a graveyard if you just thoroughly strategically bomb everything. A nuke on a capital would count towards that. That's why the U.S. stuck mostly with tactical bombing.

i can't argue for ho and the vietminh's methods, but at least ho had the grapes to stand up for the sanctity and sovereignity of his country, and put his money where his mouth was.Daily Electronic Music Enlightenment Thread - Come on Down to the Underground

Ngo was no puppet. He was a wise and brave leader who was determined to drive out the communist animals with his own unique methods, and he wouldn't let anyone tell him how to do it.

... we didn't use the a-bomb because we found out in the after math of the previous usage that it is an uncalled for thing to do. no matter how bad a nation's government is, the people do not deserve THAT.
also.... some of the people who would have been killed were our own soldiers in captivity. At my house, we listen to both kinds of music: Led and Zeppelin!
How do you build muscle like Bert Landry?
