Quoted From TMZ.com
Ronnie Coleman, who has been crowned Mr. Olympia (do they crown them??) eight times, is suing Gold's Gym for allegedly using his muscles to lure in members.
In a lawsuit filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Coleman claims Gold's used a photo of him to advertise Gold's ... a photo that was plastered on posters.
Coleman is suing for misappropriation of image, invasion of privacy and unjust enrichment. He's seeking unspecified damages and an injunction putting the kibosh on the poster.

Why would they use Ronnie on their flyer then, rather than just some no-name scrub in the gym?
If you're a pro bodybuilder, you've worked and sacrificed years to get what? Looks, that's what. That's what it's all about, creating that look that wins. That's your bread and butter, your image, your looks. People stealing the image of a pro bodybuilder is stealing their bread and butter. Ronnie has every right to say "F--- you, pay me bitch."
If this was some non-commercial venture, I'd be disappointed in him, but Gold's gym ain't exactly good will, they're in it for the money and they used his image to try to make more money. It ain't about whether or not Ronnie is special, it's about paying the dues owed to people who already paid their dues. You don't get to profit off the backs of other people without compensating them.If freedom is being free to do anything that isn't illegal, then there isn't a nation on earth that isn't "free."
The weak have religion, the strong have faith.
Society is comprised of two main groups of people... Tools and those who use them.
I'm not saying your religion is wrong, I'm simply saying that if your religion doesn't leave room for me to be free of it, we're going to have a gun fight and you're going to lose.

Why? He is well within his right. Business is business - bottom line. He has obviously spoken to lawyers who have looked at both the facts of this case, and the merits of the lawsuit - they have come to a legal consensus that Ronnie Coleman was wronged - if they did not have a case they wouldn't be filing it in the first place, since it would simply get thrown out.
That established, he is a sports figure, as such, his image (especially in the fitness industry) cannot simply be used without his explicit consent nor for profit (remember Golds is a business first and foremost - dont give me any of that "Mecca" crap - its no longer the "Mecca" its simply a gigantic gym where the majority of clients are average people who train
He is within his right to protect the profiting off his image -
if Gold's did not profit off his image - well that is up to the court's to decide.. He has the right - he is entitled to voice his concern in the legal domain - and it makes him no less of a bodybuilder for choosing to exercise that right.

To you Ronnie Coleman nuthuggers, look on TMZ! He brought negative attention to bodybuilding! Former Mr. Olympia turning it into something for the press to laugh at! Did you read the blurb?!?!?

Honestly, I NEVER read TMZ, because it's pure trash. It's like the multi-media version of the national enquirer. Actually, it's so bad it makes the national enquirer seem like the Wall Street Journal.
So to be clear here, you wouldn't have a problem if I or someone else used the image from your avatar or any pics you may have posted to advertise my product/service without your permission? If freedom is being free to do anything that isn't illegal, then there isn't a nation on earth that isn't "free."
