I am confused about why many diets that support bodybuilding do not include fruit. If fructose is the issue, why should it be if it doesn't cause a large rise in blood sugar level? This in turn would mean it wouldn't raise insulin levels. Before I started training seriously, I ate fruit all the time, everyday. I was leaner then ever also. I am talking apples, oranges, bananas, strawberries and blueberries.....like 5 servings a day. Can anyone help me understand this theory?

i only eat bananas
they taste the best
I use a soy powder mix with skim milk and it tastes like ass so i throw a banana in a mix which im pretty sure is better than any sort of artificial sweetner or plain sugar
also i've read that potassium lowers lactic acid (sore muscles during workouts) so i figure i can work harder if I'm not actually feeling the burn but getting it silently

Bananas, raisins, strawberries, pomegranate. I eat fruit all the time. Nothing wrong with it, or anything else, in moderation. Keep track of the nutrients and how they fit into your macros, but also account for the high density of vitamins and other nutrients they give you. Go for it and enjoy it.

Actually the broscience is that you can all the fruit you want. Humans evolved eating fruit when it was ripe- which wasn't very often. Once the liver is full of glycogen fructose gets stored as fat-if you are eating carbs the liver is usually full. That is why most bodybuilders cut out fruit near the end of a diet.
