Illustrator can open PDF files, theyre typically one in the same. Just go to file > open in illustrator and go to the PDF. What version of Illustrator are you using?

It depends on the PDF file on how editable its going to be though. When you save a pdf from illustrator you have the option to retain its vectorization in the program. What kind of file are you trying to open? Maybe it would be possible to recreate in Illustrator if you need to?

It isn't me, my new manufacturer is telling me that the label .PDF is unacceptable and that he needs it in Illustrator format. We have always used this .PDF, I am not sure what he needs.

well how did you make it in the first place and save it to pdf? You must have the source file then?

My Graphics team does all of that, I just received an email from my manufacturer requesting it in Illustrator format. I don't believe we have such a file.

was the pdf made with the most up to date software? If it was just rename the .pdf extension on the end to .ai
