Well, I know most people in the sports section are either out of HS and trying to walk on a college team or still in HS trying to get a starting spot.... Earlier I was watching a show about this dude that only played a year of football in the 5th grade, but went out for USC football team and actually made the team.
dudes name is Ben Malcomson and he was actually a writer for the schools paper and wrote a couple journals about his walk on expirence...
His story of making the team:

How the tryout went for him

Its crazy because he was 6'0, 170 and went out for the team as a senior... and he actually dislocated his shoulder during summer workouts and was able to come back with two games left in the season, he ended up only playing one down in his career... But **** i can't even fathom being on the sidelines in a USC uniform at the colosseum!

"One morning I woke up and found my favorite pigeon, Julius, had died I was devastated and was gonna use his crate as my stickball bat to honor him. I left the crate on my stoop and went in to get something and I returned to see the sanitation man put the crate into the crusher. I rushed him and caught him flush on the temple with a titanic right hand he was out cold, convulsing on the floor like an infantile retard." -Mike Tyson
