Thumbs up 3 days on , 2 days off , repeat .... good?

I do a 3 day split , Chest/Tris, Back/Bis , Shoulders/Traps/Legs , would 2 days of rest following that be too much rest or is it fine ?

If I only took one day off it would mean working out 6 times a week and same bodypart twice which from what ive read is too much but really someone with more knowledge can lead me in the right direction... Thanks!

With that kind of split you're usually better off doing 2 on, 1 off, 1 on, 1 off.

It's the same, but 3 straight days is often hard on the CNS, this gives you the same frequency.

On a side note, try give an upper/lower or full body consideration as well.
Usually much more effective for those somewhat new.

For a 3 day split, I would recommend 1 on, 1 off, 1 on, 1 off, 1 on, 2 off. In other words:

    Monday: Chest/Tris
    Tuesday: OFF
    Wednesday: Back/Bis
    Thursday: OFF
    Friday: Shoulders/Traps/Legs
    Saturday: OFF
    Sunday: OFF

I'd prefer 2 on 1 off, 1 on 1 off. Youre resting before and after legs and youre training each muscle every 5 days. Maybe even 1 on 1 off, training each muscle every 6 days. I think that resting 7 days is too much, but if youre training a 3-day split, you'll need some rest. 5 or 6 days of rest seems to be a good solution.

This is what i do 3 days on and 2 days off using the push-pull-leg routine rest 2 days and repeat...this gives my major muscles 5 days rest and i dont worry if i do back one day and then omg i got to do legs the next day no i hit the gym and train like a warrior i do my full body in 3 days and then i rest and heal and repeat till i look like Arnold :-) but unlike Arnie (and i love big Arnold) he had a little help thats why he could workout 6 and 7 days a week, i go natural with one exception i use creatine to help the healing process and i get my protein from the food i eat...............after looking your workout over ours is the same with one difference i do my shoulders with chest and backarms and only legs on leg day... and hey they say what works for you might not work for someone else but for me i tried it with only 4 days of rest instead of 5 and it just wasnt enough recovery time i found that extra day met all the difference! good luck man i love this sport i eat drink and sleep bodybuilding
