Squat day 6.21.08
squat day
Super deep.
135 x 15
225 x 12
315 x 10
Reverse tension blue bands
405 x 10
495 x 8
545 x 3
585 x 1 PR!!!!
We adjusted the bands and mesured the tension today. We found that at the start they take away no wt and in the hole they were taking 125 lbs. So this was a tougher day. I was supprised I got the PR.
Several of the guys are complaining about sholder pain in the clavical area. I think it from the heavy rack lockouts. So were quiting those for a while and adding Shwab's for lockout work. This was My first time trying them but it went well. Everyone felt a real weak spot that these will hit.
Schab's on the smith rack. top 6" of moment and loading really low with a mid to close grip.
225 x 10
315 x 10
405 x 10
455 x 5
495 x 5
Very effective.
Long sauna and out! BW back down to 207. fells good there.Ben Brizendine

good work dude.
do reverse band squats help all that much? I would think they do the same thing as reverse band bench, aka simulate having a suit on, but the difference between my raw squat form and my suited squat form is huge...its almost a different lift, I'm not sure if I can see how effective the carryover is.
I'm just wondering if you do get a lot out of it?*Mods/CS will not, nor can they change your username, so don't ask*

I think they are very effective in building strength, for me that is what i always look for, not at all a technique thing. I use them off and on in Bench, deads and squats. I feel a little safer with the bands and we usually use them for both positive and negative tension. I think they would help with your raw strength allot but I think to build your equiped maxes you have to use the suit. I am starting to see more guys doing reverse bands with equipment in all three lifts. I plan on doing some full range bench stuff next week equiped.with the rev bands. Everyone I know says they are effective...

WABDL and SSA so far. I would like to do some USAPL in the next year or so. Im getting ready now for an unsanctioned meet in early July. It will be open gear so I have been playing with a loose double ply katana recently...
You've got a good program going. How do you like your gains?Ben Brizendine

ME Bench 6.23.08
ME Bench
Thanks to everyone for showing up. It was a so so night and everyone was pressing ok, but felt off. Feels like a CNS issue as late last week was a barn burner. Everyone was really on last week so I would expect a couple weeks to recoup the old central nervous system.
Normal warmup. Cuff, tris, grip and bies.

315 x 8
405 x 2
1bd

Shirt up dbl ply katana 48. I really have to hit low to touch 585, 650's feel good)

675 x 1 definatly a grinder but stead up. never felt like I wouldnt get it.

Awesome workout man, Like to see the vids too. What were you saying at the end when it looked like u were talking about the groove? I don't know if you didnt have sound on the video or if youtube is working weird for me right now.
I haven't checked out your backlog yet but I was just wondering what your meet PR's are?Consistency

That was a ****ty 675 for me. It felt like I was adjusting throughout the press and I just felt off, so I was bitching.
Meet PRs are bench single ply 585, dont know about dbl ply Im doing my first comp in july.
Deads Ive only done 2 comps but I pulled 605 in my first one (conventional) and 585 (sumo style, this year)
Never have compeated in squats but I have hit 635 single ply in the gym pretty regularly.Ben Brizendine
