Serge,
On your dvd you suggest 6 chest exercises for 6 sets of 12 reps each and bb pullovers are to be done every day. I've been doing this but have noticed that both my lats and chest have gotten smaller. What do you suggest that I do?

Im shocked that Serge thinks that Snake needs to lose 30 lbs.
In that case I need to lose at least 40 maybe 50 lbs because snake looks ripped compared to me
Oh my, I have so much work to do.
Losing 40-50lbs is gonna be demanding but Im ready and good thing this thread gives me extra motivation now in the beginning."Bodybuilding is an art, and we must sculpt our body in such a fashion that it becomes a masterpiece."

Sorry Serge, yes you did already answered it. Thank you and I will leave him alone until he comes back to me and trains correctly. Thank you.
Serge, why do you think people feel it is necessary to lift with very heavy weights?? It's like I can't convince people even though I look bigger than them!!

01-12-2009, 10:07 PM #2024
Serge, have you ever helped anyone lose LOTS of weight? Just curious what you would recommend for someone who is severly obease. Obviously it wouldnt do well to use your training program because they would have to eat so little they couldnt grow muscle, so what would you suggest? Lots of cardio?

When Serge was competing at 200-205 lbs ripped with super low fat levels, he still had a 6ft frame. Competition physiques have veins on the abdominals running parallel to the obliques. Forearms look like a road map covered in veins. So, losing 30lbs is not bla bla bla, you see some guys at 250lbs benching 350lbs when they cut up...they disappear ! they can easely lose 60lbs...it's frightening. I did the Nubret's Gym contest in january 1985 I started out at 118kg benching 2x170kg and squatting 22x150kg. I came into that contest my 1st contest at 101kg, I thought I was good, the juges thought differently and I didn't place in the top 5 (which I still disagree, there were two competitors who had nothing muscle wise). I know that if I had gone full circle diet wise 1 more month would have got me down to 96kg's 6ft5! then, I would have carbed up three or four days before the contest to get water into the muscles and avoid the flat look... I would maybe have hit the top 3. Yea Bodybuilding is tough on the mind too! I'll send in some photos of that old competition.
The winner of that contest the same year won Mr France & placed in top 3 at Mr Europe. The level was highThe truth is found only onstage!

SergeFanNYC: In my opinion I think its all about their EGO. Majority of people cant see themselves using moderate/low weights because they compare their strength with others in the gym and dont want to seem "weaker". Strength for those kind of people is using as heavy weights as possible.
Publican: I dont think Serges words are "bla bla bla". I was just shocked about how high his standards and demands are towards the guys here in this thread. Which I absolutely love because that gives us even more motivation.
Cant wait to see your contest pictures, you are a great add to this thread."Bodybuilding is an art, and we must sculpt our body in such a fashion that it becomes a masterpiece."

Serge-
I read earlier that when you trained to guest pose at age 65, that you supplemented with protein shakes rather than such a large quantity of meat. Did you still try to get 3grams per pound of bodyweight with this? BTW those recent shots of you at 70 look better than most people ever attain.

I agree with you about the Ego part. But I also believe that the Ego is a sign of immaturity. You have nothing to prove in the gym at all to anyone else.
There's a person who posts on these forums (and actually came into this thread crying when his name was mentioned) with the intials L.N. who is touted as some sort of so called "superstar" on the internet. Even a bodybuilding magazine sadly gave this silly guy a column. He RIPPED HIS CHEST apart doing stupid movements while espousing to lift with good form and his form sucked. He then complains when people challenge him, is actually quite rude and makes too much noise in the gym, and all because he wants to be "hardcore" when he's really softer-core than most guys who are quiet and humble and look 100 times better.
So to me, guys like L.N. and his immaturity pulls a veil over his book-knowledge that makes him such an "internet super star". (And I guarantee his lackeys will see this post and run to him on other boards and say, LOOK! LOOK! You have to respond, O wise one, else us littles will wither away and dieeee! as they have faithfully done before.)
Thankfully we have the great Serge Nubret who actually traveled the world, organized bodybuilding contests, derived a training philosophy that is solid and based on actual application instead of scientific studies in a lab.
And I also agree with you that Publican should post up his old pictures!
Serge, how is your training going this week? When is your next seminar?Last edited by SergeFanNYC; 01-13-2009 at 12:02 PM.

What Serge says in one line I say in a page ! he's always been precise and to the point. Not in an ugly way, but just because he knows the stuff 100%
Well, I saw the nutritionist for the 2nd time today. I've gone down in Bodyfat by 3.5% my levels are still humongous almost ... embarassing, here goes : 35,5% bodyfat ! yes it's ... to say the least annoying in a civilized language it's ***************************** pissed man !
She has the maths and the calipers, and X+Y-Z = hey presto I'm a fatso! a pigman. She said my arms were muscular 'thank you' because I was getting walloped with the real facts.
I took photos today and they were 'ugly' enough to be ommitted from this forum for the moment (could make a good before photo). I lost 5 kg's in 25 days. 30 kg's to go...
08/2008 = 144kg
11/2008 = 139,7kg
Started diet 17/12/2008 = 136,6kg
13/01/2009 = 131Kg
Goal 110 kg in decent condition.
The truth was found in the fotos too!The truth is found only onstage!

Studies in lab yeah, how confusing arent they!
Do this do that, because a lab study says so
I was one of those who believed in all those things and it was a jungle for me.
I spent so much energy on stupid things. Everything from nutrition (eating 8 times every day), consuming many supplements (that I never felt anything good of) and exercising very heavy which always resulted in almost no muscle gain and always injuries.
Serge Nubret and this (+old) thread + his training DvD is what helped me alot.
Everything feels so right and the only problem is that its very very hard to do this training but as Serge said in his Training DVD: After 2-3 months your body will get used to my training. One other thing that I like is that I do not need to eat 6-8 times a day. I just eat when my body asks me to eat which is 2 times a day. Ofcourse the lab studies would say that is not good but I believe more in Serge then any scientist sitting in a lab doing researches.
And only after 5 weeks (was sick for 10 days though) I see improvements that are hard to believe. And I havent even started to give full throttle. (but soon enough)Last edited by Lancastrian_Swe; 01-13-2009 at 06:40 PM.

I believe that L.N does have alot of knowledge, just a different training philosophy
I have read some of the posts from L.N and to his credit he does have a lot of knowledge and he also knows how to cut up and dial his body in for a contest. He just has a different training philosophy than us here on this thread. I remember when I used to train as heavy as possible until I was enlightened by Serge and this thread. Thank God I didn't get any serious injuries.
So we don't want to pick fights with others who choose to train another way. In time as the body gets older you will have to change the way you train or you will not be able to train at all do to injuries.

I agree. Many years ago I met the late great Reg Park. He indicated the folly of heavy training and the damage it did to him. The body wasn't built to continually push 500 lb bench presses, 600 lb squats, 400 lb rows, 235 heavy barbell curls, 300 lb press behind the neck and so on. By the 1970's he was so crippled he could barely train although he built an incredible physique and drug free too.
Contrast with Serge Nubret - Serge recommneds moderate weights, high reps and a lot of sets. He does some of the same basic exercises, only with better form and technique. As far as I know, Serge has always been relatively injury free and has created perhaps the most aesthetically beautiful, best proportioned, most perfect physique of all time.
I am using Serge's system right now and getting remarkable results.
Thank you Serge for your insight and knowledge and most of all for sharing.

Hey Serge,
Many years ago you conducted several WABBA shows in the USA. I was wondering if you have any plans to bring WABBA back to the USA. With the AAU gone. Dan Lurie trying to rebuild...unsuccessfuly and NABBA failing badly, the USA needs an alternative. I would love to see you promote a WABBA American Championship and perhaps bring the WABBA World Championships to the USA. Perhaps in the New York City area.
I know that most people here are not aware of your strong adminstraive and organizational skills. I know that you were the man who developed the IFBB in Europe and promted the IFBB Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia contests, the first time in Europe. Without you, where would the IFBB be today? I also know you created the WABBA organization and gave Ben Weider a major nightmare.
So I would love to see you bring the WABBA organization to America with national and local competitions. Any chance of that happening?
