Yes, this routine is very hard and to do this 6 times per week year in and year out requires a BIG LOVE for what you are doing. With love comes the dedication so the one who finds love for this routine wont have problems exercising it year in and year out. I hope I will be one of those guys

I have been exercising the Serge Nubrets way for 1 week and I swear to god that I can see changes in my body already, a small ones but still I see them in mirror. It looks like I lost a little fat and that my muscles got bigger. Or maybe my mind is just playing with me, hehe.

I will take measurements after 1 months of training and see what really happend.

    To Johnbodybuilder

John, you said that you would be way too overtrained by this routine?

I think you need to follow Serges routine exactly and also eat the right way and you wouldnt get overtrained.
At least, you could give it a try for couple of weeks/months, it seems to be the only way to convince you

To be a good bodybuilder you must be a good observer...Look at people who repeted over and over the same move, exemple workers who built houses they are quit muscled right and not so fat...those who leave havy weights like Powerlifters, of course they have some muscle, but never like those who leave more moderate weights, we bodybuilders...that's the proof that moderate weights but 12 time with just litle rest give more muscles...And that is normal, because when you do so you can reduce your resting time opposit to a powerlifter who have to rest 5 minutes before to start again...Of course I never say that to lift small weight, but moderate weight which allow you you to rest only 1 minute and do set of 12 reps.

But you do what you want, maybe it's better for you to listen to people than giving a try....

Serge, how difficult was it for you to burn off all the fat? from what i've heard you used to have a very heavy diet and i personally would find it virtually impossible to cut down all the fat.

what would you attribute this to? pure hard work great genetics or both?

Serge I have trouble building shoulders so I figured I would try your shoulder exercise, only thing is theres really nowhere to lay down on the floor in my gym, so I was wondering, would your shoulder exercise work just as well if I did it standing up with the cable machine?

i dont believe this routine is going to failure. it is like just doing warmup sets. you are just getting the pump in my muscles. if you go to failure then you would def need more time to recover. that is my interpretation of this program.

its not just doing warmup sets.

the muscle fibers in my chest feel like they're being ripped apart after barely 10 sets. that's never happened doing warmup sets. then again, i dont lift warmup weights with this routine because warmup weights is not what is called for.

go as heavy as you can for all the sets with no more than 1 min rest.

That's why no new BB'ers do this type of training anymore. They do less volume and get just as big or bigger. Pro Bob Chick only performs 9-12 sets total once per week and he's huge. Chickster used to perform these type of workouts back in the day when he first began training, then all the BB'ers switched to hitting each body-part with less volume and only once per week. And voila, they got better and faster results.

Serge's workout def. does work though I'm not bashing it all, but I would much rather be in the gym less than 6 days a week 2 sessions a day and get the same results, if not better doing less volume like Bob Chick.

    Hello Serge,

I've been training very well since the 20/november 2008. Not that long ago.
The first week I had muscle soreness...pretty bad. I knew this would happen because when you train before and have more fibre development your muscles hurt a lot more...but it's a 'good pain'.
Walking around with the arms at 90 degrees hands in pockets just to seem normal ! for 4 days.

I started squats again and there's no remplacement for this execise. Leg press heavy and try squats... a fraction of the weight and you're huffing and dizzy, unbeatable.

A quick note on the low reps & sets ideas.

The guys who won the contests in France and Europe even at the Wabba World level all did the 6 sets 12 reps really high volume training. The others didn't place or get to compete.

Serge spoke to me in the REM gym and said "you don't need that stuff" with my program. Considering the use of ASS. He just said eat anything that runs, flies or swims in his own words.
He also added "You do this program eat a lot of protein, that is all you need".

Bodybuilding is a lifestyle. It's like any other field of activity : business, family etc.
You get there in the end but it needs constant work. It is the most important activity for pros like Serge for us it sometimes takes 2nd, 3rd place resulting in very slow gains and even fat levels that are ugly.

Why fat levels : If you train on & off all the time your body gets 'confused' stimulated to develop muscle & lose fat, then, allowed to collapse into bad food habits and zero exercise "couch potato syndrome" resulting in almost worse results.

I'm here for 6 months straight just to train and eat 'clean' 6 days a week.
I've done the work at home 'business' now it's time to clear up the mess.
I have muscle under the fat. I'm not a fat skinny guy, I'm a fat strong guy.
    But I'm fat by 25kg's (60lbs) wow!
What is a pain is meeting up with friends who just say "hey you got big as they tap your belly"

Tonight I'm off to see one of Brazil's top nutritionalists...?
I'm willing to see what she (woman) has to say... I hope I don't get disappointed. Sometimes the eyes of a medical or University degree graduate can not remplace the down to earth VISION and precision of a guy like Serge Nubret who just says eat protein, and low carbs....2000 abs a day !!!

I'm going to the nutritionalist to get any unknown info... I'll keep you informed

Serges routine is nothing like warmup sets.
It feels like your muscles are working very hard and you get the feeling that they are beeing ripped apart as Riz said. Its a wonderful feeling.

Give it a try couple of weeks

Serge, your a legend, your physique is absolutley incredible. Would give my legs to have your arms!

I am looking to switch to a 3 day split, being that I can only workout on three days... what do you suggest for a split? It would be monday/wed/friday...

It's the same for chicken growing in a chicken firm and chicken living free where they get themself their food into the ground, the first one get ready to be eaten in 4 weeks, and the other one needs at last one year to get the same result, but what they don't tell you here, it's that what they give the first chicken to get ready so fast.
Myself I prefer to be in the second category of chicken, at 70 years I am still there in very good health. It's why my new book is called "70 YEARS YOUNG"
