Congrats on trying to lose some weight, but i must say what you did is not healthy, nor was it as successful as you think. You starved yourself all day, and then lost some water weight. You have to expend 3500 calories in order to burn a pound of body fat, so unless you managed to expend 17,500 calories today, which I know you didnt, you sure as hell did not burn 5 pound of body fat. Sorry bud, do some more reasearch and learn how to burn the fat properly, good luck.

The key point everyone is making is that you simply can't lose a significant amount of that Fat in one day. All you did was dehydrate your body, and give yourself a bunch of unhealthy physical stress. Anyone can "lose" several pounds simply by not eating or drinking anything all day - but that's totally ineffective as a long-term solution.
1. Set a realistic goal: 1-2 pounds per week. Which means you're easily looking at a year to safely lose those 80 extra pounds.
2. Don't fixate purely on weight - Bodyfat percentage is much more important, and is quickly highlighted by your waist measurement.
3. Use a site like http://www.fitday.com to track what you eat. See how that diet impacts your weight/fat for a few weeks, then adjust it as needed (500 calories more/less per day equals one pound per week).
Congrats on deciding to take control of your life and your body!

the above post is good enough advice but..come on man losing 5lb in one day some of it or all of it fat is just screwed up you need to eat regardless of what you think.. believe me.
i was 295 nearing 300 basicly IN GRADE 9 ive since (in grade 12 and graduating) then lost well im 223-225 so if i was at 300 about or close to 80 pounds in 4 years!!
slow ass progress but i loved it.
ive still got a way tad bit to go but man..
dont worry..

That's because they weigh 400+ pounds... at 235, I guarantee that if you lose 12-15 pounds per week, you will feel and look miserable. But, since the above posters already gave you advice and you disregarded them, do what you will, you'll definitely be the biggest loser that way.

I'm sorry, the first thing that popped in my head when i saw this thread title was "Ok, he took a really big dump".
But seriously, if i remember right doesn't body weight fluxuate by almost 5 lbs during the day? If so, couldnt it just have been pushing your body to the lower extent of that range by not eating and then dehydrating yourself?
Not to say it's not possible. As a poster above said- biggest loser people do it- though they tend to be alot heavier.
