So ah...what happened to gfundaro?
Seriously, get back on here and apologize. Your obviously just lurking waiting for it to die down and hopefully everyone will forget and your slate will be wiped clean. That was incredibly disrespectful. The least you could do is show some respect and retain an once of the once obtained dignity you had by apologizing.

Just got back from doing 45 minutes at 3 mph on the treadmill. Pulse got up to 70. Bob's quote is correct:
^^One reason that many guys (and girls) are afraid to try this method is that they're afraid it won't work, or because it doesn't "feel" like they're doing anything.^^
It sure felt like I was wasting my time but I'll try and stick it out.

I guess she didn't expect the author of the article she trashed to come into this thread and not only post his response, but hand out a good old fashioned humbling in the process.
The honorable thing to do would be to at the least post an apology for denigrating Bob's experience and for belittling his efforts and contributions to the sport.
This statement alone shows an incredible lack of knowledge of the sport and distaste for what it takes to build a championship physique:

I guess while I'm active duty military my dreams of competing might just be shattered.
when I run, I'm still able to maintain a conversation with the person next to me. So my heart rate doesn't go all that high.
When I walk my heart rate gets up into the 120's-140. Elliptical it gets up to the 150's.. when I run its between 130-160. So its all about the same, running just takes a bit more effort that's all.The Iron never lies to you. You can walk outside and hear all kinds of talk, get told that you're a god or a total bastard. Well correct me if I'm wrong but walking is steady-state whereas sprinting is more HIIT, which is supposed to be muscle-sparing, yes?
I have been walking and my cut hasn't been going as well as planned so I was thinking of throwing in some 50-yard sprints.
Didn't make it in for epicness but I am getting some questions answered hopefully.PSN - iarentdrunk

I'm not putting you down in anyway.. so don't take my post as a disrespect post. That goes for all of you! lol..
Do you not feel that your body will adapt? That if your running 2-3 miles and your heart rate doesn't really come up all that much that you will be able to burn fat and not carbohydrates?
Or when you go on a keto style TKD/CKD type diet your body will be able to use FFA's/EFA's as energy instead of carbs becuase it has adapted to the new energy source?
As long as they are conditioned, running doesn't beat you into the ground as much as it would for someone who isn't used to that type of training. I feel that as long as your able to maintain a conversation with your "jogging partner" you should be alright...
I know a guy that is big as **** and pretty lean. He runs 3 miles at a 17 minute pace. His heart rate doesn't come up all that much.
Now mind you. I'm highly doubting, someone that "runs or jogs" will be able to be as big as you and as lean as you.
But for soemoen like me that jogs 2-4 miles as cardio... can probably maintain 170LB's and 6-7% BF at my height, should be ok?The Iron never lies to you. Hey Vadim (or Matty), I'm kinda wondering the same thing as Respawn here. When I run, my heart rate doesn't get much above 140 just because I'm conditioned to run that much, so would that be "low intensity" as defined by heart rate? If thats the case, then one COULD justify running on keto/low carb without muscle loss. Sprinting I would think not since that is specific short bursts, but running distance, while more glycogen depleting than weight training, isn't as depleting as sprinting.
Thanks man!

HIIT is anti muscle for me....It feels like it has something to do with the jarring effects of pounding the pavement....It may just all be an energy pathway issue or a heart rate issue...but it certainly feels like I lose muscle due to the physical jaring effects of the running.
